After hearing about Cubby Bear, I was sort of disappointed that he's got another PD set he wants to accomplish.....

The copyright laws are literally limiting Steve to releasing only Van Buren cartoons.....when Columbia's Scrappy and Paramount's vast library of cartoons are collecting dust in the vaults. I'd give a crap about the van buren cartoons if the master negatives are in some foreign land's vaults just waiting to be rescued, especially the early rainbow parades (heck I'd see the Rainbow parade titles rather than the Borden's ones to "The Sunshine Makers" and also "Pastry Town Wedding" and not recreated or advertising Borden's for free).

The truth is, I have a special place for the Paramount cartoons (and Steve has a special place for Scrappy)

Do you think Steve should released more licensed sets?

PS I am curious to see what the "Gulliver" negative looks like. Granted the current Blu-ray is colorful, I wonder if the negative will top that.

Unless you're Olive Films, Thunderbean will never have a bunch of licensed sets.

Why: For example, let's say that Fleischer Popeyes are owned by a huge monopoly called Warner Bros, ok? You can't just simply walk off with the distribution or sublicensing rights of a handful of important works Fleischer Popeyes from a major monopoly unless you have a powerful consultant with you, you gain corporate trust (like Olive Films), or come up with a quick load of lots of money. That could be millions, billions even to pay for the rights!

So to sum it all up: It's in the interest and money, and as far as I know, Thunderbean simply lacks those quantities.

Paramount Cartoons ... you've been asked not to do this in the past. You've earned yourself a thirty day suspension.
