Mmmph, I didn't get the disc, but from the top of my heart.... those are signature Kodachrome reds and greens! Crisp for what looks to be a 16mm transfer.

I'm still waiting on my disc to cross the Atlantic...

Those screenshots more look like an attempt to colour correct an Eastman faded print than a Kodachrome (surely most "original broadcast prints" would have been printed on this stock?)

You're absolutely almost assured that most animation programs in this era would be Eastman; which was my first guess. The reds and greens are a bit pale anyway....

The special is a revelation. I knew about the two sponsor bits, but I never knew the audio had been sweetened sometime later (many sound effects "missing" in this version). There's also missing dialogue when CB is reading the flyer about the lights and display contest.

I've discovered there was at least one animation retake: in this version, when CB first sits down at LVP's booth, there is no snow on the desk, only for it to suddenly appear on it a couple of shots later (for her to clear off). Later versions correct this.

And what's VERY interesting is there is a splice in the exact spot where there's always been (even in complete/restored versions) an awkward jump in the music when they're dancing to the piano. I grew up watching the shortened version with visible and audible film splices (the omission of throwing snowballs at the can, etc), and always "expect" them even when subsequently watching it restored. So it was very strange to see this one happen on the first airing. It's as if there was a negative break and loss of frames even before the thing aired. (I know this print has a couple of splices earned over the years, but the placement of this one is too coincidental not to be original.)

Fascinating!

A big giveaway is that blacks look greenish, a by-product of dialing down magenta. Not that I'm complaining or blaming anyone; it's to be expected from a surviving period print.

I seriously doubt that Kodachrome was ever used for broadcast film prints. Not only more expensive but also way too contrasty for telecine.

I'm still waiting for my copy of this too, along with Award Winning Cartoons and I'm No Fool For IB Tech, all of which were shipped to Steve's other customers months ago.

I've emailed Steve several times and of course he's given me his typical BS apologies and promises but as usual, won't actually send me the discs that I paid for.

Steve, is there any chance you might be able to mail our copies to us before NEXT Christmas?

For the record, I have bought many of Thunderbean’s product and this is the first time Thunderbean has “missed” me or, maybe, the disc was lost in the mail?

Speaking from experience here. I've been ordering Thunderbean discs for nine years (wow, I feel so old!) and they've always arrived. I remember when I preordered Fleischer Rarities, it was still in production. I believe it took twelve months for me to finally receive it. I understand the frustration of not getting a Blu while others have, but I have no reason to believe Steve's a scam artist.

Folks, please be patient.

This is your friendly mod signing off.

I got my Secret Christmas disc today!!!
The special has a blueish line down the middle of the image throughout the show.
Is that the nature of the print that was used?
