Question for Eutychus...
« on: November 12, 2011, 05:32:38 am »

Hey Eutychus~

Thank you so much for getting this forum going, this Turtle thinks it's darned good (and you know it's rough for us to be "GAC In Exile" ;D).

But anyway on to my question... Since GAC-TTTP is only going to revive someday as a read-only resource can we IMPLORE you to talk to our friend Jon Cooke about bequeathing the wonderful GAC cartoon smiley/emoticons to IAD??  I appreciate how many emoticons you have for us, but after having the luxury of the cartoon-emoticons for 7 years it's really jarring to have only the standard-type emoticons.   And since GAC isn't going to be using them on a board anymore...

Would it help to beg and grovel??  ;)

That's on my list. I've got my plate full with other work right now, but it was always in the back of my head as something I'd like to do.

I've gotten Jon Cooke's blessing and the graphics set to use the old GAC cartoon smilies. You should see them popping up on the board within the next few days.

Thanks, Jon!

Okay, the entire emoticon set from the old GAC board had been uploaded here and is available for use.

Don't make me regret it.  :marvin2:

Seriously, emoticons are like spices. A light sprinkling of them can make your post a little more enjoyable. Overuse of them can make a post (or a thread) unreadable and, I believe, makes people take you less seriously.

Use judiciously.

Great news on the emoticons!  (Again, thanks, eutychus and Jon!!)

Just one silly techie-question:  How might I add a couple to my signature here?   ???

Thank you again Eutychus (and Jon) it is indeed appreciated so very much!!!  (Though I guess your warning precludes the mad plan to turn them into a new form of hieroglyphics decipherable only to the authentic and FERVENT golden-age cartoon-lover (or cartoon historian)  ;) :coolcat:

You can add them by copying them and pating them. Hope this helps. :)

Thank you for the suggestion, Looney Tunes Fan.  But that evidently won't work in my signature ... perhaps elsewhere, just not there.  Back to the frying pan (or something like that).   :fethry:
