Ehhhhhhhhhhhhh. So I guess this means we're back to having Gadget Boy non-stop at night?

I wouldn't think (or hope) so. ;) Frankly, this new Inspector Gadget series looks miles better than Gadget Boy anyway. And remember this is part of Boomerang's rebrand; they purchased the series because it's a new version of a classic.

For the record, as I mention in my post, Inspector Gadget is still slated for Cartoon Network in the United States.

I think Inspector Gadget airs on Pop/Kix here instead.

...but that's the original series, right? I'm talking about the new CGI TV series coming out next year.

Yes. I thought you said that the original series aired on Cartoon Network there.

Ah, no, was talking about the new reboot series all the time. I thought that was understandable since I talked about the reboot coming to Boomerang in many countries just above. But I guess I could have specified it as, "the new Inspector Gadget series is still slated for Cartoon Network in the United States."

Oh. I thought you were saying Inspector Gadget is still relevant there as it airs all the time. It's kind of downplayed here, so I think it's odd that they'd revive the series.

Haha, there's a difference between "relevant" and "slated for". :P Big difference, actually... "slated for" means "scheduled for" etc., something coming up into the future. Not something that's already happening.

RE: "It's kind of downplayed here..." By "here", do you mean the United States? If so... well, there are other countries in the world besides the U.S. The new Inspector Gadget series is a 100% Canadian production, done by DHX Media in Halifax, and it was commissioned by Teletoon Canada. Clearly, a lot of the reason that commission happened is because the original series has had good ratings for many years now on Teletoon Retro (where it's still being shown all the time).

But then again, the reboot series has since been pre-bought for airing in more than 60 countries, including Cartoon Network in the States. So it would seem the franchise still has relevance.

Isn't "Amazing World of Gumball" still in production? Why is it airing on Boomerang then?

I don't know why either. I really can't stand Gumball to be honest with you.

Probably as a "testing-the-waters" sort of thing for the rebrand.

Either that, or they're lazy. Or they're trying to mock us by keeping things that people would actually watch like "Quick Draw McGraw" off the air while advertising whatever drivel is airing on Cartoon Network, even if it's not classic. (Thank goodness those "Stop Bullying" ads have stopped airing, as far as I know. To have those pop up while I'm watching :tom:'s tail get chopped off is just asinine.)

The bullying ads are airing here. :/

As for The Amazing World of Gumball playing on Boomerang, it could be a test for the rebrand or promotion, like Toadette stated. Gumball is an alright show, but I don't believe it belongs on Boomerang. It already plays enough on Cartoon Network along with Teen Titans Go (especially if you look at the current state of CN's scheduling.) I would rather for Boomerang to play commercials and/or clips of Gumball and Teen Titans Go.

Currently, Boomerang seems to be the location for Cartoon Network originals no longer in production. However, Gumball is currently in production and don't expect it to be cancelled anytime soon because the show's been renewed for two additional seasons. (The show is currently in season three.)
Happy Holidays, everyone!

Boomerang is essentially becoming Cartoon Network 2, the name means nothing. They will do whatever they feel can build awareness and stimulate ad sells as that's all that really matters. Throw Gumball, Adventure Time, Teen Titans Go, whatever on at 8PM and catch the viewers you lose to Adult Swim. Makes total sense.

You're right, El Hombre Pez. The endless "The Garfield Show" timeslots, regurgiated shorts of Tom & Jerry and Looney Tunes, and now both Teen Titans Go! and Gumball too?!  Forget saying that Boomerang is essentially becoming Cartoon Network. They're actually turning Boomerang into Cartoon Network 2.0. I've really got my fingers crossed, but I sincerely hope that the rebrand isn't the final nail in the coffin for Boomerang not being a channel devoted to classics such as, MGM, Hanna Barbera, and Warner Bros. Cartoons. I'd give up on watching cartoons on TV altogether, if that happens.

They're devoting it more to new classics. Maybe they'll stay on Boomerang, so that in 20 years, they'll finally be considered old...

Though, it's less Boomerang and more Gluemerang.

Boomerang literally is dead to me now. The Christmas lineup is garbage compared to past years (the only classics are Horton Hears A Who, which I have no idea why that is on, Flintstones Christmas Carol, and making its Boomerang debut, the 1966 Grinch special).

How the heck can you ruin a channel in less than a year?
I love classic cartoons!
