Over six hours worth of rare animation will air on TCM on October 6th starting at 8:00 PM Eastern/5:00 PM Pacific.

Here's the shorts that are featured on specific blocks:

Winsor McCay:   Little Nemo (1911), Gertie the Dinosaur (1914), How A Mosquito Operates (1912), The Sinking of the Lusitania (1918), The Flying House (1921) and Gertie On Tour (1921). John Canemaker co-hosts

Bray Studios: Farmer Al Falfa Sees New York (1916), Bobby Bumps' Pup Gets the Flea-Enza (1919), Colonel Heeza Liar, Detective (1923) and Dinky Doodle in Lost and Found (1926) Tom Stathes co-hosts

Van Beuren Studios:  The Fly's Bride (1929), an "Aesop's Fable"; A Swiss Trick (1931), featuring Tom and Jerry (not to be confused with MGM's famous cat-and-mouse team); Pastrytown Wedding (1934), The Sunshine Makers (1935) and Ted Eshbaugh's early Technicolor animated version of The Wizard of Oz (1933). Steve Stanchfield co-hosts

Feature films airing starting at 12:15 AM Eastern/8:15 PM  Pacific

The Adventures of Prince Achmed (1927)
 Max Fleischer's Gulliver's Travels (1939)
Toei Animation's Magic Boy (1959)
Chuck Jones The Phantom Tollbooth (1969)

Would like to see "Mr. Bug Goes to Town" featured again, which aired once during the last animation showcase in 2012.

Didn't "Mr. Bug Goes to Town" air in spring of last year?

Hmmm, my DVR record sez October 21, 2012 for Mr. Bug.   A shame it's taken 2 years for another block of vintage animation programming to come together. Perhaps Steve and Jerry could pitch a more frequent if shorter program?

Unfortunately we are hamstrung by whatever frequency TCM is willing to do this. In a perfect world, it would be at least a few times a year.

Agreed! Though in the case of the silent era cartoons, I see no reason why TCM couldn't work something out with you to sprinkle a few in on regular basis during their weekly silent films programming. Best venue in my opinion  :)

A grand idea, of course  :)  That's why more of you should chime in on their message board:

I'm just gutted the UK version of TCM won't be broadcasting this, it all sounds brilliant.

Tom and Steve, good luck co-hosting your shows about Bray and Van Beuren!

On that note, Tom, next time you're in one of the programming meetings with them (or whatever), would you mind wondering out loud something along the lines of, "You know, I bet the UK TCM channel would be interested in this...", and see what the reaction is? Just in a nothing-to-lose, you-never-know sort of way. It's an extremely long shot, but it can't hurt to try!

It's gonna be a rough day at work tomorrow after trying to stay up for as much of this as I can. Totally worth it, as Koko dances across my SD tube TV screen.
