I have just one comment on the set:

I'm no fan of double-dipping.  But when I can put a Blu-Ray disc in, watch a short, then take a DVD, play the same short on the same set in the same player and notice a substantial improvement in visual quality, then call me a convert!

Blu-Ray is what all the WB shorts deserve.  I will no longer consider a Blu-Ray release to be a "double-dip" if the short has only been on VHS or DVD.

You forgot LaserDisc. There were LaserDisc sets of LTMMs, containing cartoons which have never been restored or released on DVD/Blu-Ray.

BTW, can we get some comparison pictures?

Why is everyone giving it such high marks for special features? It has the same amount of Special features as two discs of LTGC per disc (Mostly in alt Audio tracks). I expect more than that, as they have a ton of Special features that they still need to release. Such as all of the Bugs Bunny Show segments from GC, a lot of the earlier Behind the Tunes, (Blooper) Bunny, all of the Pencil tests and recording sessions, Adventures of the Road-Runner, ect...

I bought myself a copy a few weeks ago and finally took the time to watch it over the past four days or so. Unlike in the past where I'd watch a cartoon at a time and select them individually, this time I just selected 'play all' and let them unspool. By not looking at the liner notes, each short came as something of a surprise. In a small way it was like watching the shorts on broadcast TV again.

While there are legitimate issues with the double dips and the fact that no one thought to correct the mispitched soundtracks on "High Diving Hare" and "Bully for Bugs" for the most part I was satisfied. For one, I'm glad that for Blu-Ray Warners kept using the non-Blue Ribbon masters of "Dog Gone South" and "A Ham in a Role."

The restored rings on "Canary Row" were another nice addition. I will ask though, does anyone think that opening was just a bit soft for an HD rendering?

Finally, after years of watching sped-up, muddy prints of "Dog Pounded" and "Beep Prepared", seeing these two shorts in pristine condition was a treat.

So, a few minor niggles aside, this was a worthwhile purchase. I do hope WB is thinking of some way of continuing to release their shorts.

I wonder if "Beep Prepared" is in its correct pitch unlike both its previous (which was of course a sped up PAL copy) and current (which uses a different remastered print, but with low pitch audio due to it being a PAL copy that had its correct pitch, converted into NTSC) TV broadcasts on CN and Boomerang.

I hate to say but like I said before, WB has no budget to remaster more classic Looney Tunes on DVD and Blu Ray for us collectors according to Jerry Beck on one of his appearances on the Stu Show. So we won't be seeing more in remastered quality in a long time, so for now, we are stuck with nothing but ridiculous double dip releases.
I'm not just a fan of classic golden age animation, I'm also a fan of video games, anime, and modern animation (both 2D and CGI animation).

I believe I already confirmed that Bee Prepared is in it's correct pitch.

Not just Laserdisc. By my count, here are the numbers for Warner cartoons not released on WHV's Platinum Edition, Golden Edition, Super Stars (uncropped), or Essential discs. All are official releases, and there are overlaps.

DVD, Warner Night at the Movies = 36
iTunes and Amazon Instant Video = 13
Laserdisc, American = 194
Laserdisc, Japanese = 25
VHS, including Night at the Movies = 114

NOTES:
> To my knowledge, none of these cartoons is re-mastered.
> Some, but not all, of the black and white LTs on VHS are computer colorized releases from the '90s which may or may not have been edited, but there are no re-drawn LTs.

That leaves 212 LT/MMs unreleased, not including PD discs and tapes, which I've excluded due to poor quality. All of the ones I've seen are no better than what can be found online, and often worse.

What are the LTMMs on Amazon Instant Video? BTW, is there a UK release? I hate it when internet videos you have to pay for are region locked. What's the point?

Some, but not all, of the black and white LTs on VHS are computer colorized releases from the '90s which may or may not have been edited, but there are no re-drawn LTs.
Here are the black & white I know so far that are available on certain LT VHS tapes in computer colorized prints from the 90's:
  • The Impatient Patient (1942, Daffy Duck: Tales From The Duckside)
  • Porky and Daffy (1938, Daffy Duck: Tales From The Duckside)
  • Porky Pig's Feat (1943, Daffy Duck: Tales From The Duckside and Ham On Wry: The Porky Pig Laser Collection)
  • Porky's Party (1938, Porky Pig: The Days Of Swine And Roses)
  • Patient Porky (1940, Porky Pig: The Days Of Swine And Roses)
  • Porky's Hero Agency (1937, Porky Pig: The Days Of Swine And Roses)
  • You Ought to Be in Pictures (1940, Carrotblanca: Looney Tunes Go To The Movies)
I'm not just a fan of classic golden age animation, I'm also a fan of video games, anime, and modern animation (both 2D and CGI animation).

These are all of the cartoons on Amazon.com, with the name of the collection in which each can be found. The 13 titles marked with * are the ones that aren't available on BD or DVD, as noted in my post above. I've downloaded a couple of b/w Looney Tunes and they are in proper b/w, but I don't know about the others.

At Amazon, some collections give you two cartoons for $1.99, while others give you only one title for the same price. I have no idea why.

I just ran a very quick search at Amazon.co.uk and they seem to offer the same collections, but I don't know about region locking. However, I don't know whether downloads are region coded, as DVDs and BDs are. Given the price, it wouldn't cost much to find out. Regardless, you will find the files protected, as you would on iTunes, and you can only view them on your computer with Amazon's software (which is free), or on their website.

For those who are wondering, iTunes has some cartoons that Amazon doesn't have, and vice-versa. However, you'll find all 13 download titles noted above at both sites.

I've tried both; I find iTunes' video quality somewhat better, and its software is faster and more user-friendly. YMMV.

Hmm, 13 as-yet unreleased to disc cartoons, all either Foghorn or Elmer.  9  :foghorn: + 4  :fudd:, and 2 of Elmer's involve a farm.  Throw in "Robot Rabbit" and there's the 14 needed for a SuperStars collection, and that would let them put Bugs on the cover for marketing reasons.  Think that's what they're planning?  WB has revived this series before.  Jerry, want to chime in here?

You could be right, but (and I hate to put a downer on things) it's just as likely to be an aborted project than a prospective one. I wonder...

Either way, well spotted!

Stupid Historians! They all hate Foghorn Leghorn because of Robert McKimpson. Why do all historians hate his work so much? One of the best LTMMs ever, "What's Up Doc?", as only been double-dipped once, while others I can't stand, like "What's Opera Doc?" have been double dipped so many times.

Thanks!  I hadn't thought of the aborted project angle, but you could be right.  They were probably working on a sequel set to "Foghorn and Friends" when they shut down the series.  *SIGH*  Well, maybe a change in management will come along, find out all they need to do is remaster one more cartoon and slap them on a disc, and decide to finish up the project.
