The Difference About Chef Goofy in "No Service"
« on: July 22, 2013, 11:07:19 am »
I know Goofy was a stupid & clumsy but kind & gentle character that always sticks with his best friends Mickey & Donald through any adventures!

But in "No Service", chef Goofy was acting out-of-character, as he was sometimes being rough on Mickey & Donald for not following the diner rules.

So I posted my letter to Paul Rudish at "Animation Scoop", because I was passionate about Goofy and the Disney cartoon fans.

My letter says...

"Dear Paul Rudish,

I already watched "Croissant de Triomphe" & "Yodelberg", & I think they are great cartoons,

But there is just one difference about "No Service",
after I watched "No Service", I think that Goofy, as the diner chef, was sometimes being rough on Mickey & Donald for not wearing shoes & shirts, & for the wrong I.D. card that Donald is holding by mistake. I think that Goofy is sometimes acting out-of-character in this cartoon.

At the comments in the article of OMD (Oh My Disney) titled "5 Problem-Solving Lessons from the New Mickey Mouse Short",
Matt Norcross has said "One flaw of this short is that Goofy was out of character.".

& the people at the dvdizzy forums also said that Goofy was sometimes out of character.

I think we loved Goofy better as a kind, gentle, clumsy, very friendly, & "goofy" character.

I think you should do something about changing this cartoon ("No Service") a little.

My idea was, only in "No Service", to replace chef Goofy with a tall & skinny chef cat that didn't wear pants (tall & skinny & pants-less like chef Goofy), voiced by Dee Bradley Baker, who is innocent but can be rough to someone who breaks the rules.

I hope you understand.

Signed,
Tony McCarson"

This is where I posted my letter:

But the two good things about the 2013 Mickey Mouse cartoons is,
Goofy had a funny cross-dressing cameo in "New York Weenie"
& Goofy was back to his real self in "Stayin' Cool"!

But Paul Rudish and his team still should do something about changing "No Service" a little.

I know that Goofy had different roles in "Ye Olden Days", "Motor Mania (where he is the evil Mr. Wheeler)" & "Fathers Are People".

But I think his role as chef Goofy in "No Service" is sort of technically weird.

Feel free to post discussions in this thread

& write your own letters & comments (with your own ideas) to Paul Rudish, so he can understand how you feel about "No Service".
(Please be friendly and nice to Paul Rudish!)

& remember people, we love Goofy just the way he is since 1932! :goofy:

please post a link to this thread at...
the "Disney Discussion" section at the "DVDizzy.com" forums,
the "Golden Age Cartoons" facebook page,
& the "Disney/Pixar Forum" at the "ToonZone" forums.

I'm not saying you're wrong or anything, but, to quote Walt himself, "That ship has sailed, Pamela."

Well, since you asked... I think Goofy's anger worked for his role in the cartoon and the makers of this cartoon must have thought so too.

This cartoon has been completed, released and seen by thousands of people. It's done and it's too late to edit it now. Remember these cartoons are totally different to the originals. Mickey, Goofy and Donald have never quite looked like this before. They're looking and doing grosser things than they've done before as well. It's part of a new take on the characters in a series of distinctive shorts made for TV and the internet. I'll bet the creators of them would love to hear feedback from fans of the characters and would probably be interested to hear about what different people did and didn't like (especially with fans as polite and passionate about it all as you), but I don't think it's for us to tell them how they should censor their completed and approved work.

Also you say you've posted Paul Rudish a letter, but it looks like you've just written a comment on Animation Scoop about two weeks after the original post was made. If so, there's no guarantee he'll ever see your comments.

It doesn't matter if it's a letter or a comment, as long as Paul Rudish CAN read it, no matter what.

Sorry, tonyboy85, I honestly didn't mean to make a pedantic remark about the difference between a letter or a message on a comment board. What I was trying to point out was that since the post you made was sent to a website that is not Paul Rudish's own, there's a high chance he will never see it or realise you tried to contact him through it.

Jerry Beck knows about this subject because I contacted him via email. I already told Jerry to talk to Paul Rudish about this subject when he sees him.
