Cartoon Series: Merrie Melodies

This was a pretty ok short. The opening song was a great addition, and making the short really living up to it's series name "Merrie Melodies." The gags were pretty funny as well, especially the running gag with Conrad and Daffy staying calm when the captain approached them. Daffy is still his screwy self, so that's a nice touch. Overall, I'd give it a 9/10.

I believe you mean Conrad when talking about the "unamned dog".  He was used a couple of times before this cartoon and he is actually a cat

There was some classic moments such as Conrad mopping the deck with paint ("Very sloppy Roscoe..."), though the ending felt abrupt.  :daffy:

I felt the same way. I was going to put that in my review, but it was midnight and yeah. :P

I thought this short was decent.  I like the running gag where Conrad stops whatever he is doing for a second and salutes the little Captan that walks by his path.

Keep in mind that this film happen during Jones' transitional period where he is starting to do more humorous based shorts and less Disney-like ones.

:daffy:This cartoon was the source for some memorable quotes to us kids.
When we played army or cowboys someone would find a way to interject: "Big bullet."
Also, "Very petite, Betsy..." was a favorite we would just parrot with no context.
Even: "Look at me; I'm a dive bomber." came in handy.
The action stopping captain gag reminds me of the bum in the Dover Boys ( The Dover Boys at Pimento University or "The Rivals of Roquefort Hall) cartoon.
I love that Daffy is so Marx Brothers wacky! :mighty:

Disney's and Flesicher's Pinto Colvig as Conrad.

Without watching it again right now, this cartoon had a very sleek look. Also, some nice art deco-ish touches. 8)
