CDOTW: How many actually still want this to happen?
« on: January 27, 2013, 09:21:37 pm »
Hey guys, LTF here. I'm here to talk about the future of CDOTW. Back in 2011, when GAC completely died off, I was happy to bring over the tradition of CDOTWs, but as time went on, many stop replying to the fact where I was losing interest. David Gerstain(I'm sorry David if I spelled your last name wrong :P) suggested I give my own review on the cartoons. While it worked for some, it still isn't bringing in replies to the topics. My question is: Why? I've seriously tried my hardest to give a good review on cartoon  subjects, but somehow I don't get replies for them. Why bother with it if no one actually replies to them. I'm not trying to sound mad or anything but it's the truth. Most of the previous threads have gotten no replies at all, which is pretty much why the hiatus in January took place, as I was losing interest due to no one honestly caring to check them each week.

Note I'm not trying to be hurtful or ranting. I love all the members here. You guys are like a family to me.

So the decision is in the members of IAD's hands. Do you guys really want this to continue on and what can I do to make you want to come back each week and discuss the short at hand? I'm open to any suggestions. Thank you for your time. :)
I love classic cartoons!

It's just a fact that people don't always post responses to these things even though they may appreciate it.  I have the same problem with my Facebook.

I see, but why do it if no one seems to respond? I have many other things I have to do, and this is just a bother if I get nothing in return.

For some reason I hadn't really noticed this folder in the forum. I think I'll go comment on some of the threads right now.

This may be a stupid thing to say, but I really like the Cartoon Discussion of the Week even though I hardly ever look at it!

I think the reason is because I only have a limited amount of time to spend looking at things on the web each day (and usually I already spend more time than I should) so I tend to skip right ahead to my favourite forum (TTTP in Exile), completely forgetting to check any of the others. I actually think that taking an individual cartoon and discussing it with fellow enthusiasts is one of the more enjoyable things to do on a forum like this.

Honestly, if these threads were on the TTTP forum, I think I'd chime in more often and perhaps others would too.

Eutychus is looking for more comments on the IAD, so as a suggestion maybe we could do one of these threads a week on TTTP, engage in some positive discussion (it'd be cool if some of the experts threw out some facts about the cartoons too) and then include the comments on the IAD site? This might even encourage people to leave more comments for cartoons they like directly on the IAD.

I got no problem with that!  :bugs:

Seconded. I've read posts on the GAC Forums archive where some people have said they tend to visit only the main forum they're interested in (the TTTP forum), even by bookmarking only that specific forum instead of the forum index. If new CDOTW threads were posted to the main TTTP in Exile forum (as they were back on GAC) instead of here, then I, too, think it's possible that more people would participate in the discussions. Old CDOTW threads could still be moved to this forum to archive them. Certainly something that could be worth trying.

I certainly wouldn't have any problem with that. We could keep them in the TTTP forum for a few weeks and then archive them in the CDOTW.

:mighty:  Well, as a newbie, I intend to keep watching just to see the cartoons I have not seen before or have not seen in years!
May not have anything to contribute, except my thanks! ::)
I just watched The Mouse of Tomorrow and The Little Match Girl.
Don't remember either one.  Match Girl was beyond words!  I loved the superimposition of images!

I'm good with that. It'd deffenitly bring more activity and give me a reason to actually do them!  :foghorn:
