Cartoon Discussion of the Week- November 4th, 2012 - Duck Amuck
« on: November 04, 2012, 12:06:07 pm »
Look, I accidentally closed out of this tab, and I had a big long explanation for this, so I'll make it short and sweet. Bascically, I'm really sorry about the delays of the other two, and that I plan to get back on a regular schedule with this one. Now then, here's CDOTW for November 4th! :D

Today's CDOTW is a classic Looney Tunes short(more variety coming soon) called Duck Amuck. Why do I like this short? Well, I like how Daffy gets tricked by Bugs Bunny at the end, and how Daffy gets mad at all the scenery changes. I really like the backgrounds in the short too. Very nice looking. Overall, a classic Daffy Duck cartoon. 10/10 A+

One of the funniest 1950's Daffy shorts, Many great scenes from the random sound effects coming out of Daffy and the black screen falling on him.

This is one of my all-time favorite Daffy Duck cartoons. I feel like it is the definitive Daffy short.

Pretty much every gag is perfect. From the beginning where it looks like it'll be a typical cartoon with Daffy in a swashbuckling role, to Daffy being turned into an indescribable creature, to Daffy's close-up and fight with another self, to the ending.

I find it interesting how Bugs ends up being the animator, considering Bugs and Daffy had only starred together in one or two previous cartoons (Rabbit Fire... and I can't remember whether Rabbit Seasoning came before or after this). I would have thought an ending like that would work better after the Bugs and Daffy rivalry (though in most shorts the rivalry seems one-sided, unless Bugs needs to defend himself) had been established as a regular thing.
