"Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass Double Feature"
« on: November 27, 2012, 06:23:27 pm »
São Paulo - SP, Brazil, November 27, 2012.

Hola, amigos from Internet Animation Database!

I've found on YouTube, an animated short which is a real music video, which won the Oscar for the 1966 best animated short.
I'm refering to the short Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass Double Feature (1966), directed by the legendary John Hubley for Paramount Pictures, which was produced and written by him and his wife Faith.
This short features three unforgettable hits recorded by Herb Alpert for A&M Records: Mexican shuffle (1964), Spanish Flea (1965) and Tijuana taxi (1965).
This short is located on the following link: Enjoy to watch it!
Well, this was what I've had to report here.

Cheers from this faithful friend who always writes 4 U,

Rodinei Campos da Silveira (from São Paulo, Brazil)
God bless you!

I think I remember seeing animated toons on a 1960s ABC(?) TV special featuring Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. It seems to me I've seen a TJB special or two on bootleg DVDS. Maybe Toonstalker??? I have long wished these 60s TJB specials would see the light of day in an official DVD release!

DOUBLE FEATURE toon discussed here:

Here's two TJB specials on IMDB, but neither mention the TOONS being part of them:

Herb Alpert And the Tijuana Brass (1967) CBS-TV:

Both specials were on in APRIL of their year!

Does anyone else remember seeing the TOONS on TV in the 60s???

Muito obrigado!!!   ;D

I've been wanting to see this since first reading about it, and had been very disappointed when I couldn't find it. (I think it was mentioned in the great UPA book "When Magoo Flew"!)
