EVERYONE’S FAVORITE ANIMATED CLASSIC HALLOWEEN SPECIAL, CHARLES SCHULZ’

“IT’S THE GREAT PUMPKIN, CHARLIE BROWN,” AIRS THURSDAY, OCTOBER 31 ON ABC

The classic animated Halloween-themed PEANUTS special, “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” (OAD on ABC 10/30/01), created by late cartoonist Charles M. Schulz, as well as a bonus PEANUTS cartoon, “You’re Not Elected, Charlie Brown,” in which Linus runs for class president, will air THURSDAY, OCTOBER 30 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. The program will air with Spanish audio via SAP. (Rebroadcast. OAD: 10/31/13)

In the 1966 animated special “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” The PEANUTS gang celebrates Halloween, with Linus hoping that, finally, he will be visited by The Great Pumpkin, while Charlie Brown is invited to a Halloween party. Cast members include Peter Robbins (Charlie Brown) and Christopher Shea (Linus). The cast also includes Sally Dryer as Lucy, Chris Doran as Schroeder, Bill Melendez as Snoopy, Kathy Steinberg as Sally, Tracy Stratford as Violet and Ann Altieri as Frieda.

“It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” was executive-produced by Lee Mendelson and created and written by Charles M. Schulz. Bill Melendez is the producer and director and Vince Guaraldi is the music composer.

“You’re Not Elected, Charlie Brown” – in which Linus runs for class president with Lucy and Charlie Brown managing his campaign -- features Chad Webber as Charlie Brown, Robin Kohn as Lucy, Stephen Shea as Linus, Hilary Momberger as Sally and Todd Barbee as Russell.

“You’re Not Elected, Charlie Brown” was written by Charles M. Schulz, directed by Bill Melendez and produced by Lee Mendelson and Bill Melendez. The original music was composed and performed by Vince Guaraldi.

On October 2, 1950, the PEANUTS comic strip launched in seven American newspapers. Who would have guessed the impact the brand would have around the world for decades to come. Nearly 60 years later, the comic strip appears in over 2,200 newspapers, in 75 countries and 21 languages. PEANUTS animated specials have become a seasonal tradition and thousands of consumer products are available in virtually all retail channels. Charlie Brown kicking the football, Linus and his blanket and Lucy leaning over Schroeder’s piano are images to which everyone can relate. Such phrases as “Security Blanket” and “Good Grief” have become a part of the global vernacular. Lee Mendelson and Bill Melendez’s association with Charles Schulz stretches back to 1965 with “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” which debuted on CBS in 1965 with Mendelson as executive producer and Bill Melendez as animator and director. The three men continued their long-term association until Schulz’s death, working together on 50 PEANUTS network specials and four feature films. The network specials won five Emmys, two Peabodys and 18 other Emmy nominations.

General Discussion / Re: Saturday Morning Cartoons Memories
« on: August 20, 2014, 04:48:45 am »
I was born in '81 so pretty much any mid-late 80's cartoons I enjoyed watching my favorite channels to watch were ABC and CBS tuning in to see such shows as Muppet Babies Bugs Bunny & (insert supporting cast member here) The Real Ghostbusters and yes even the spin off Slimer and the Real Ghostbusters. Tho the fun really didn't start until Friday at 8pm when ABC aired their TGIF line up that was the official prelude to the weekend good-ness.

I recall not wanting to wake up for school during the weekdays however on Saturday I was up at sunrise. The way shows were scheduled were perfect in that when ABC would air a show that I didn't care to watch I'd flip it to CBS then back to ABC for the remainder of the day. at one point or another NBC would toss in a program that I would enjoy which would blow my carefully scheduled programs As they would air something that would be shown at the same time as ABC or CBS.

The only downside to the Saturday morning cartoons would be those damn anti-drug PSA's the early ones (the guy with the frying pan & egg Suzie's story) weren't so bad However when they started to air PSA's such as these (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LBX26AjsEg , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TKtCIZNgvw)

Kinda early I know but I just got this release so I'm passing it on:

BRAND NEW CHRISTMAS SPECIAL, “TOY STORY THAT TIME FORGOT,” PIXAR ANIMATION STUDIOS’ SECOND NEW SPECIAL FOR TELEVISION FEATURING YOUR FAVORITE CHARACTERS FROM THE “TOY STORY” FILMS,” TO AIR DECEMBER 2 ON ABC

Tom Hanks and Tim Allen Reprise Their Roles as Woody and Buzz

ABC announced today that their second Pixar Animation Studios special for television, “Toy Story That Time Forgot,” a new Christmas special featuring your favorite characters from the “Toy Story” films, will air on TUESDAY, DECEMBER 2 (8:00-8:30 p.m., ET). The special comes on the heels of the success of “Toy Story OF TERROR!,” which premiered to stellar ratings last October.

During a post-Christmas play date, the “Toy Story” gang find themselves in uncharted territory when the coolest set of action figures ever turn out to be dangerously delusional. It's all up to Trixie, the triceratops, if the gang hopes to return to Bonnie's room in this “Toy Story That Time Forgot.”

The cast of “Toy Story That Time Forgot” includes Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz, Kristen Schaal as Trixie, Kevin McKidd (“Grey’s Anatomy”) as Reptillus Maximus, Wallace Shawn as Rex, Timothy Dalton as Mr. Pricklepants, Don Rickles as Mr. Potato Head and Joan Cusack as Jessie.

“Toy Story That Time Forgot” is produced by Galyn Susman and directed by Steve Purcell. The special is from Pixar Animation Studios.

« on: March 10, 2014, 04:07:28 pm »
This fall, Boomerang will change to be family/girl-centric
(read Nick and More for more info)

Once again, Classic Animation has no outlet :(

Perhaps if Warner would give up their strong hold on their classic animation catalog then maybe such networks as Antenna TV METV would be able acquire them and air them on weekend mornings

Turner will officially announce later today intention to push ad sales on Boomerang.

"...as audience appeal for classic cartoon programming on Boomerang has grown to critical mass,

I want my money back that's false advertisement! They are airing more (and more) contemporary cartoons rather then what is truly classic.

I wish they would bring back Speedy Gonzales and the other mexican Looney Tunes cartoons on TV. But CN is still worried about the latin americans and mexicans getting offended! How that angers me!! :scrooge: I'm a mexican and I never get offended by those cartoons at all!

W-wait a sec a while back somebody (may have been a tv station) played a bunch of speedy cartoons for those whom are Latin Americans and/or of Mexican decent and the majority saw speedy in a positive light while after seeing the positive turn out CN reinstated several Speedy/Sylvester/Daffy Shorts the only thing CN didn't air was shorts that featured Slowpoke unless attitudes have changed since then I don't think anybody would really be too offended by seeing speedy on TV.

Is that the short where Sylvester runs into the ship's engine room and ends up being blown out of the ship's smoke stack with his tail on fire?
