TTTP In Exile / Re: Betty Boop to be released by Olive films?
« on: August 12, 2013, 05:35:01 pm »
Well, this doesn't look bad. Thee quality is probably what I'd expected and there are no issues with the titles...
Of course, it would have been better to have the cartoons released chronologically, but something is better than nothing.

Some Betty Boop cartoons do circulate with Paramount copyrights on some prints and UM&M. copyrights on the TV prints.
Yes, and some circulate with both.

Here's a Preview clip.  Looks like the masters look alright even though it's not remastered per say

TTTP In Exile / Re: Jerry Beck to Leave Cartoon Brew

I have to say that I welcome Jerry's idea of making a new blog just for himself. Amid really got the leading role on CB in the last year, with his style and posts...

I believe Jerry will now have a larger and better space for entertaining those of us who follow the classic animation posts & news more. Good luck!

TTTP In Exile / Re: Tom and Jerry Golden Collection: Volume Two

This is just pure mockery. WHV has already released several cartoons with un-PC material over the years, why should these two be a special case? If there was no problem with several Looney Tunes and Tom & Jerrys, then there's no reason for not allowing the release of these two controversial shorts. Heck, these even air with all of the blackface scenes included on my version of Boomerang.

Quite absurd...

Happy birthday, all the best.

I've seen the red NTA public domain print on VHS a lot of times. It's probably on DVD somewhere.

The print here is also missing part of the scene at 7:41 (large splice) that is on that NTA print...

The old design looked better, but a month from now and we'll barely remember what CB used to look like. It's like every design change, takes some time to get used to it.

Here's a nice-looking copy
Well, it would have been a nice looking copy if the DVNR didn't ruin it.
The titles on this thing are interesting. They're sort of a hybrid bettween the pre-1952 and post-1954 titles. It's noticeable that that the text is smaller (fake widescreen fitting), but it's still not as small as it is on the later entries, starting with "Gopher Spinach".

There's another one on that account sourced from an original print, but with replaced titles:

TTTP In Exile / Re: A question about Famous Studio workload

Bob Jaques writes:

Famous Studio's animation quota was 25 feet a week.
No extra stresses I ever recall hearing about - in fact I heard that Germanetti finished his work by noon so I assume he didn't suffer any work stress.
I think the thread is making a big deal out of nothing.
