I will only post questionable or updated information based upon having the item in hand and  have verified it. Yes, the "SUITS" had no clue on what they released on "Touch Down Charlie Brown", the disc menu is incorrect! So I might add on that note, don't update listings based upon "Propaganda" released by the powers to be, wait until verified from a known source.

FYI on VHS releases by Kartes in a Slip Sleeve. If the ISBN and UPC codes are on the top flap, the releases that I have are in an EP mode that results in low quality!!!! Another point when collecting is to ask to see the label on the actual VHS. Those that I have with the above info has a glossy one.

For my friends that are not in the NTSC world I have found some titles on VHS I've not been able to get additional info on.

Questions, Comments and Suggestions / Cartoons On Various Formats
« on: December 22, 2014, 06:03:23 pm »
I have faith in this site, but what I believe we need is a way to list what is tracked here by the various formats that was officially released.

There has been releases other than DVD, Blu-Ray!!!! Try 35 mm film, 16 mm film, 8 mm film, Beta, CED, VCD, Laserdisc, VHS, etc..  Some of those releases contain portions of the initial release that has NOT been edited, etc....... by the SUITS that release currently today.

I find the daily schedule for cartoons over the cable / airwaves to be pppfffffttttt! In my opinion, we end up with watching commercials more than seeing a cartoon. I cut the cable, power cord, TV 15 years ago. I'm a classic cartoon collector that remembers watching Inki, with the Minah Bird on saturday mornings as a pup.

My additional thoughts on this subject is, there is no place on the internet I'm aware of that lists all official releases by all formats on the catalog that this site tracks by DVD and/or Blu-Ray. I'm well aware that latest Tech is supposedly the best thing since sliced bread. But, in reality it isn't!!  I'm an ancient, and have older formats which doesn't have the current PC edits and is in watchable conditions! Another point I'd like to make is identify the release by UPC Code. The generic names really tells nothing!!!! On older formats which aren't sealed / possibly re-sealed, who really knows what you have, but it does give a guide to information.

I'm also aware this site doesn't track outside Region 1, which is North America releases. For the most part, that is what I collect other than Japan that is in the NTSC format. Yes, there is both english and japanese languages.

I had no idea that Race for Your Life and Bon Voyage had been released on DVD. I wonder how I missed that memo. Then again, I also didn't know that You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown was on DVD until I saw a copy in the store.

And of course, all of these specials have been released on VHS in the past, under many different companies. And it was common for some companies to release multiple specials in one video. I recall seeing a VHS that had It's the Great Pumpkin, What a Nightmare, and It Was a Short Summer all in one release. There were some double-special releases where each side of the packaging was a cover for one of the two specials. And of course Paramount put out the "Snoopy Double Feature" releases.

And speaking of the Paramount Home Video days, there were specials featured in "Snoopy's Double Feature" and specials included on their own, under the labels "A Peanuts Special" or "Peanuts Classics". Outside of the "Peanuts Classics" (most of which were the holiday specials), I wonder how it was decided which specials would have gotten their own releases without being paired with another special (well I guess it's obvious for the hour-long releases).

And specials have also been released on laserdisc and Select-a-Vision (don't know off-hand about the lasediscs, but the select-a-vision releases have four specials each).

They haven't been yet. And you brought up a point I think needs to be added here in ALL Filmography. All known OFFICIAL releases, across all formats, with notes of edits, censored, redubs, etc...............

Speaking of which, Pal Vs. NTSC, why is it they show a PAL on NTSC cable/TV etc... , Is it because the great USA of A don't have the film!! And those other countires kept a copy? But then the powers to be don't like file share, they use GEO blocking, blocking stream sites, attempt to ban/block P2P, to what avail? Most can still be found in, unedited, uncensored, 16 or 35 file capture, vhs/beta capture, laserdisc capture, etc.... Seems this site is only interested in Blu-ray/DVD, thats fine with me, but when the same thing is released over and over for a handful of new I won't support any venue the "SUITS" choose!

Tis amazing the pups of this group don't know the difference of PAL vs. NTSC. LOL pitch, why don't you all thinks of timeline!

I also collect the VHS and Laserdisc, I first started to get the ones not released on the newer formats, but as time passed, I would watch older formats with the latest to check for edits etc. Then for collectors sake, some have been released several times with different packaging. Normally the later the format the better quality.

No, you don't find the older formats in a store, but there are sites on the internet where you can. And yes, you can still find players that still work in order to watch, capture and re-format.

I suggest again, being the DVD and/or Blu-ray releases are becoming more and more double/triple dips of releases, the older formats of Laserdisc, VHS, Beta etc.... done the same. But, there is a lot of classic cartoons that has "Only" been released on those formats unedited/censored. My point being, those "Not" released on DVD and/or Blu-ray, be identified as to what format it can be found. Another suggestion I have is the DVD and/or Blu-ray releases, if the cartoon is edited and or sensored make a note.

My point being, most of the PC and or censored cartoons of any format was in the the late 90's, so there is a lot of official releases that have not been "FUBAR" with the likes of DVD/Blu-ray releases!
