When I visited the local Science Fiction film circle in my small Norwegian hometown (no cartoon film group here), I only earned laughs when I asked about film projectors - it's all Blu-Ray discs and beamers these days.

As for the WBCC: The text is available at archive.org: http://web.archive.org/web/20071026140346/http://www.conmicro.cx/~eocostello/wbcc/eowbcc-index.html

Thad: Congrats! I cross my fingers that the (ultimately favorable) review at Cartoon Brew (http://www.cartoonbrew.com/books/i-think-thad-should-totally-write-that-book-on-warner-cartoons-77286.html) is going to boost the sales.

Cartoons for Victory finally arrived in Norway the other day. Congratulations to Steve for a very fine DVD set. I showed "Dr. Churkill" to a colleague from Italy the other day and he was stunned that a film like this exists.
Thanks to Steve also for the fundraiser DVDs that arrived with the same mail - just because of the "Texas" cartoon  :tom: I from now on refer to these discs as Thunderbean's Golden Collection.
Oh, and the world definitely needs more Scrappy cartoons uncovered.

My copy arrived today in Norway. I just browsed the DVD quickly (while at work), and I must say I'm very impressed, Steve. I love the style of the "A Few Quick Facts" shorts, and I praise Steve for rescuing them from limbo.
Two comments: I think there is footage missing from "Tokio Jokio" (also check the spelling; not sure whether "Tokio" was a deliberate misspelling but this was, and still is, how Germans spell the name of Japan's capital). And: The film termed "Naturfilm" is the unfortunate "Vom Bäumlein, das andere Blätter hat gewollt" ("The little tree that wished for different leaves"), animated-directed by Hans Tischmeyer. "Naturfilm" is, as far as I can gauge, the production company ("Naturfilm Heinz Schonger"), and the copy is missing the title card. That film also was included in a recent PAL DVD set on the history of animation in Germany, but as far as I remember that copy lacked any start titles.

The world desperately needs a Scrappy Blu-Ray/DVD. If an agreement with Columbia could be reached, this would be awesome.

For me, Thad's WB cartoon set has become an extremely valuable quick reference. Also, if you want to support this man in locating more rarities and oddities (or even pieces of mosaics only), getting the set will help greatly, I'm sure.

There is a DVD (PAL, region 2) out there now in Germany (after several years of delay) that collects some German animation from the Nazi period, among them Hans Fischerkoesen's "Der Schneemann" (sadly contains the well-known splice, the first line of the snowman's song is missing like in most versions), also his "Das dumme G√§nslein"/"The Silly Goose" and the beautiful "Verwitterte Melodie"/"Weather-beaten Melody" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llVRtazEUIo  8) ). Also included are the rarely seen (for good reason, the films made me cringe) "Vom B√§umlein, das andere Bl√§tter hat gewollt"/"The Tree that Wanted New Leaves" (dir.: Heinz Tischmeyer) and "Der St√∂renfried"/"The Troublemaker" (dir.: Hans Held). Info (including ordering; unfortunately German only):
