A very interesting short that introduces at least one new character. We begin with Mickey and Minnie being invited to Magic Mouse's (there's that new character) show. Mickey then goes to pick up a set of his gloves from a very confused dry cleaning clerk. (I've never seen this fellow either, he looks like the stork in "Dumbo" with eyeballs that spin to show his dazed condition.) We next see Mickey leaving for the show and warning Pluto not to make any long distance phone calls, not to eat any food, not to watch cable TV, not to play video games, and not to do a few other things. Pluto tries to do everything he was warned about, but he does a poor job with his dog paws. However, it turns out that Mickey's dry cleaned gloves have become "magical". So after Pluto gets them on, he has a great time breaking all the rules, playing the piano, and even romancing Dina. Meanwhile Magic Mouse's show is going poorly. He can't do any tricks because his gloves aren't "magical". He is driven from the stage wondering why everyone in his world wears gloves anyway, and what happened to his "magical" pair. Finally the "magical" gloves escape when Pluto takes them off to slap Butch. So Magic Mouse redeems himself by pulling a very interesting rabbit from his hat. This short was a lot of fun, but a bit choppy in execution.

I enjoyed this one somewhat more than the last one. It was nice to see Dinah and Butch again, though I still wish Minnie's dog, Fifi, would make an appearance or two. I didn't know what to make of Magic Mouse, especially since I'm guessing that will be his only appearance.

Now a THIRD "Pluto" cartoon that had Pluto get mixed up with magic. The stuff Pluto wanted to do in defiance of Mickey was cute. Since the stuff he did wasn't all that naughty Pluto's actions made him endearing, and I thought that was the reason why I found this short amusing to watch. But making long distance phone calls and ordering pay-per-view anthropomorphized Pluto more than he really should be. And just as soon as Pluto did the stuff Mickey told him not to do that plotthread was completely forgotten. It was jarring to see Dinah and Butch suddenly appear so late in the short, and so briefly.

This short had an unusual abundance of references to Disney cartoon films, and even to other Disney TV shows. I myself really liked the TV show logo parodies, particularly "Darkwing Dog". Maybe these cultural references also made this short more watchable, but it's a cheap way to hold a viewer's attention.

DYN: Magical Mouse referred to his assistant as a "toon". I hope the show's makers don't think of the cast as a bunch of "Roger Rabbit" toons living in Disneyland or some other park. I'd rather they be furries unaware that they're cartoon characters. And who the heck is Magical Mouse anyway?
