"War Dogs" is one of the few one-shot cartoons directed by Tom and Jerry duo William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. This cartoon is also World War II propaganda as it features references to the war including hatred towards Hitler and a dream sequence of an American dog soldier chasing a Japanese soldier. The cartoon is basically a series of war and army-related gags with dogs. One yellow dog, who does not seem to be a very good soldier, demonstrates most of the gags. One of my favorite jokes in this cartoon has the yellow dog carry a letter and a smaller dog following him is carrying a letter labeled "P.S." I also like when an unseen sarge is ordering the yellow dog to wipe the smile off his tail. This is a reference to real-life dogs expressing happiness by wagging their tails.
