- Preston the dog is named after the town where Nick Park was born while Wendoline is named after Windoline, a popular window cleaning product in the UK (and window cleaning was prominent element in the short in which the character was introduced) and Shaun the Sheep (who Wallace names) is a play-on word for "shorn", meaning cutting wool off an animal (or a sheep).
