  • Originally the Scottish terrier was meant to be a dog resembling Fala, a dog belonging to US president at the time Franklin D. Roosevelt. But because of his death, the dog was given a quick emergency revision to a terrier. Another cartoon planned, “For He’s A Jolly Good Fala” (which would've been directed by Bob Clampett), would've featured Fala and Roosevelt in a story involving a dog who tries to kidnap Franklin Roosevelt's dog, but the cartoon was abandoned as soon as Roosevelt died. For a while, many thought (including in the DVD commentary), that both cartoons were one and the same but it wasn't until 2013 that speculation was debunked by Jim Korkis on Cartoon Research and was revealed that it was in fact two separate cartoons (one, "For He's a Jolly Good Fala", which was scrapped and the other, "Fresh Airedale" which had to be revised, but released).
