I'm jumping the gun a little bit, but I wanted to point out that the Popeye short "Big-Chief-Ugh-Amugh-Ugh" will run on Saturday, July 6th.

The only reason I'm bringing this up is because that's one of the worst looking shorts on the first DVD set, with lousy video levels (way too dark), and I'm curious to see if that's the same version that runs on TCM, or if they have something better.

I'm too lazy to pull the DVD's, but here's a side by side from quick and dirty grabs off someone's Daily Motion rips...Big Chief on the left, I Yam Love Sick on the right.

(you can click 'em for full size)

I just checked my recording of the short and compared it with a Dailymotion video of the DVD version. TCM aired an old a.a.p. print of the short rather than the DVD transfer. The colors do look better on the print TCM aired, but pretty sure the print is only in SD rather than HD like the other Popeyes have been.

Apologies to everyone for not getting this up sooner! Had multiple things going on at the beginning of July and this completely slipped my mind.

Before we get to the July listings, the Saturday Morning Cartoons on TCM will be taking a break again during the month of August, due to the annual "Summer Under The Stars" event.

Without further ado, here's the July TCM Saturday Morning Cartoons listings (all times Eastern)!:

July 6th, 2019
*8AM - MGM Cartoons: The Little Mole (1941) (played during Empty Holsters (1937))
*10AM - Popeye The Sailor: Big Chief Ugh-Amugh-Ugh (1938) (a.a.p. print) (played during Live Wires (1946))

July 13th, 2019
*8AM - MGM Cartoons: One Ham's Family (1943) (played during Dynamite Pass (1950)) (unfortunately, not available to watch on the "Watch TCM" service. :/)
*10AM - Popeye The Sailor: I Yam Love Sick (1938) (played during In Fast Company (1946)) (go here to watch online! (expires July 20th, 2019))

July 20th, 2019
*8AM - The Captain and the Kids: Poultry Pirates (1938) (playing during Cross Fire (1933))
*10AM - Popeye The Sailor: Plumbing is a "Pipe" (1938) (playing during Bowery Bombshell (1946))

July 27th, 2019
*8AM - MGM Cartoons: Tom Turkey and His Harmonica Humdingers (1940) (playing during Lawless Valley (1939))

Bumping this again just as a reminder that the Saturday Morning Cartoons will be taking a break during the month of August due to TCM's annual "Summer Under The Stars" event. Don't worry though, they'll be back in September! :)
