One of these days I'm going to make a public list of *all* the oddities and special discs as well, bu for now, here's a list of the 'official' Thunderbean sets (DVD and Blu-ray), inlcuding the ones discontinued.All are replicated titles except for the ones that say DVD-R. Some started as DVD-Rs and are now replicated.

What about the "Sam Bassett, Hound for Hire" collection? I think I was one of about 6 people to buy it...

The full title is actually "Felix the Cat and Rarities from the 1920s." I'll update the list. It was one of the very first Thunderbean releases, and I think Steve might have sold it exclusively on eBay.

As I recall, Felix was not a wide release, and had a very limited distribution among those that were in on the early days of Thunderbean. Steve did not consider it an "official" release, though he did put it out with a regular case and cover. I do have a copy, and feel privileged to have it.

A quick comparison of bort's list above with Steve's new list of special discs reveals I'll only be missing the following items from the complete special disc collection:


I have the official Yuletide Flickers set, so I'd suppose I'm pretty well covered there. Is there a possibility that the soon-to-be-released Noveltoons set and set #15 would cover any of the content of set #5 above? And would the official Gulliver's Travel's set cover any of the content of set #10 above? If so, I'll really only be missing 5 special discs. Not bad either way.[buzzy]

The content from Special Disc #10 was later remastered and officially released on the Gulliver's Travels Blu Ray. So if you own that, you should be set.

Special Disc #5 contained the following Noveltoons:

I wouldn't worry too much Duck. Most of this stuff hasn't shipped out yet. Not including the pre-orders for official releases that are in progress (Flip, A&C, Fleischer, Mid-Cent Modern, Noveltoons), I think the last "special set" to mail out was "Politiks & Poulty."

"Grand Old Toons", "Popeye & Betty", "Warners & Scrappy" are still pending . . . .

Yeah, it seems that Steve is waiting until A&C Rarities is fully completed so he can just send those with all the special discs that people purchased this month.

He did mention that Grand Old Toons was finished, and posted stills on one of these threads, so I imagine that disc will be sent with A&C R and the special sets, as well.

The List that Burt post is extremely useful. It seems to be almost up to date, the list was last edited 20 days ago.

If you count everything on the lists, there have been 42 official sets and 46 special/Bonus/unofficial sets that are some achievement for what is basically 1 man operation. Steve deserves all the applause he can get for making these sets possible.

With that said it would be good to get a complete list of cartoons included on each set both for the official sets and the special set in one place. It would also be nice if know whether the cartoons are 100% uncut and with original titles, and have original color/BW elements and if there are any aspect ratio issues.

Now I know these settings are a labor of love for Steve and is doing his best to make sure that these cartoons are like 100% truth to the original as possible. It might not always be possible at various point in time. For example, Japanese Lantern only previously been available in BW but it's now set to be available in color on its upcoming re-release on blue-ray. So it would be nice to know when these shortcomings happen so it can be fixed in future re-releases. 🙂

With that said it would be good to get a complete list of cartoons included on each set both for the official sets and the special set in one place. It would also be nice if know whether the cartoons are 100% uncut and with original titles, and have original color/BW elements and if there are any aspect ratio issues.

I think the exact contents of the special & bonus sets need to remain secret for legal reasons, but we could probably do something like this for the official sets (if Steve approves).

I would love a list like that myself! Kristjan, Funny enough, I do know all of that stuff in my head pretty well.

This is the first week off for the summer from my full time job, and what a week it has been. We have a new space, a ton of things went out the door, and there's scans happening nearly every week. Thanks to you folks, the (small but mighty) fan base. I love that there are good copies of so many rare things out there and am glad to have been able to contribute a little to this over these years...

It's there, in the official releases (14th from the top).

Well, when it was originally offered Steve said it was "not quite a 'special' set"  so I think it makes sense to keep it out of the special discs unless he now says otherwise.
