I didn't get the chance to comment on this during my... "vacation'.

Aside from the fact that everything Jerry said about Collector's Choice was totally wrong or misleading (there aren't even any double dips on it).

I genuinely wonder if the ClassicFlix set is real and, IF (emphasis on IF) it might happen, who they might be dealing with. Disney is out, WB is out, and I don't think they'll take on the MGM/DFE library after what Kino went through.

Sony has licensed their shorts in the past (Jolly Frolics to TCM and Magoo to Shout), and they're more open to licensing in general. Paramount is the only other real possibility, since they've also licensed cartoons (to Arnold Lebovit for the Puppetoons set). Universal has never licensed.

Technically, he was correct:
-Beanstalk Bunny, The Unruly Hare, Cracked Quack, Hip-Hip-Hurry!, Hot Rod and Reel, Greedy For Tweety, A Fractured Leghorn, A Mouse Divided and Little Orphan Airedale were all released on VHS.
-Daffy Doodles was a bonus cartoon on the My Reputation DVD. Unrestored, but it counts.
-Likewise, A Tale of Two Mice was an unrestored bonus on the San Antonio DVD.
-His Bitter Half was on the West Point Story DVD.
-While it's not physical media, Plop Goes the Weasel was previously released on iTunes.

Honestly, double-dip or not, I think the release is fair enough. Besides, not many people here collect the TCM releases.

But it's still very misleading because all of those are Blu-Ray debuts.

Funny, I remember the Platinum Collections getting crap years ago because many of the cartoons were previously on DVD. Those were called "double dips" back then.

Yeah, and I was one of the defenders. However, I didn't get the point on why Warners release the three Platinum sets on regular DVD other than more money.

Speaking of money, the WB employees/contractors/humans or whatever you what to call them mention to buy whatever new animation set so there will more. But I don’t understand exactly what future Collectors Choice sets will contain if they supposedly sell enough to warrant more. They stopped doing other sets (Golden, Platinum, Superstars). I rather see a corrected Porky Pig 101 on blu ray. I also crave a complete Tex Avery(MGM and WB) on blu ray. And I “choose” a complete Tom and Jerry by HB along with other HB MGM cartoons. And release 1930s Popeye cartoons on blu ray.

With the platinum collections at least, those were the cartoons' debut on Blu-Ray.

With Looney Tunes, it would be nice if there was one series that superseded all of the others, rather than this confusing patchwork of releases across different formats.

Since this is the general thread for perpetual discussion on Warner Archive, today's episode of The Extras podcast announced, via George Feltenstein, that HEY THERE, IT'S YOGI BEAR! is coming out on Blu-Ray in May.

George Feltenstein mentioned that Hanna-Barbera and animated features were going to be coming, so he wasn't wrong.

One of the bonuses will be Yogi's Birthday Party in HD. Hopefully a prelude to a blu-ray to the show (and ideally, Huckleberry and Quick Draw).

Is that episode on HBO Max? They both his Huck and Yogi Show shorts on there in HD. I can imagine a Yogi Bear Show set is inevitable in the future

It is.

Yogi's show would be one of the more obvious 60's H-B shows to do next on Blu, now that Flintstones, Jetsons, Scooby and Jonny Quest are accounted for. He's the most well-known of HB's animal characters, and the soundtrack is all bespoke; no Capitol Records needledrop to deal with.
