Posters for the early 1940s shorts had bold distinct colors, yet was simplistic and was strictly defined by the linework, which gave a clean feel. Sometimes the color choices were less optimal, but they never went too crowded.

After sometime in 1945 though it seemed the poster artist was changed and the posters looked very unappealing, with garish colors, a strange addiction to green, heavy contrasty shading and
bombastic in-your-face layout.

Some cartoons, even the ones in the 50s, had another style, which looked cleaner, less scattered, had minimalistic color, but still came off as off-model, and it seems the artist had no idea what they were supposed to do, like with the "three" chipmunks in Chip an' Dale.

What happened? Who were the artists involved in these? And the style change didn't seem to affect the Disney features of the day, at least so it seems.
