From TVNewsCheck , MeTV is launching a one-hour morning show, Toon In With Me, that will lead into classic cartoons from the WarnerMedia library, including Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, and Fleischer's Popeye. Also premiering: Saturday Morning Cartoons, a three-hour block of WarnerMedia-owned animated classics reminiscent of the Saturday Morning blocks of old.

Sounds like it will be fun but maybe a little dopey with the live hosts.

MeTV always strikes me as pretty tame, so I'd be very surprised if they air any shorts that haven't been "cleared to air" elsewhere. I can't imagine seeing anything controversial there.

It will be interesting to see how long something like this lasts on MeTV, or how long it can air in such huge blocks. I don't know if classic cartoons will appeal to their audience enough to merit so many hours, filling spots that have been running b/w westerns etc for so long.

Plus, the MeTV audience seems about as resistant to change as they come. Pick a show, say, Mama's Family or some other old show. They can run it in the same time slot, five days a week for literally years, and the second they take it off the schedule for something else, two dozen cranky old whiners immediately start posting to the website that MeTV needs to bring that show back.

It'll be a fun experiment anyway. Sounds like something Boomerang should have done a few years back, but that's a whole other can of worms.

“The Flintstones” have been on MeTV for a year now and not once have they aired the episode “The Prowler”. If they won’t air that, it is a given that certain shorts won’t air at all, while others could possibly air with edits.

Slightly off-topic, but the episode is on the new anniversary Blu-Ray, right?

Also, the guy said in his review that the set starts with the standard WB disclaimer about images that were wrong then, they're wrong now, etc.
I have to assume that was in reference to episodes like The Prowler.

So here’s hoping they would cut or edit or censor stuff. I will be recording these new shows unless it’s screwed up in some way.

A thought just occurred to me: Would people still be upset if they used the restore HBO versions of certain shorts that have doctored titles on the channel?

That will be very interesting.

The first installment listings of Toon in with Me is out, but I decided to hold off on posting a listings until next Saturday to go with the flow and routine after each Saturday Morning installment.

I CAN tell you, however, Beanstalk Bunny will air that Monday. ABOUT TIME it showed up somewhere.

According to Jerry himself, Beanstalk Bunny, a cartoon that MeTV will air, has its negative being worked on. Maybe that will be restored.

Also, on Stu’s Show just now, Jerry said Little Buck Cheeser may be restored when airing on MeTV!!!

Luckily, I get MeTV now (it took until 2018 for my Spectrum to receive the channel) so I'm going to tune in to watch all these cartoons. I can't wait.

This is certainly a moment in history too, because this will be the first time in the United States since 2000 that classic Looney Tunes shorts will be airing on a channel that's not Cartoon Network or Boomerang. And some of these shorts haven't aired in the US in years (such as "One Froggy Evening," "Two Scent's Worth" and "Porky Pig's Feat," as well all those MGM shorts).

Also, I wonder if the airing of "Porky Pig's Feat" will be the original black-and-white version, or the 1967 or 1990 colorized version.

I'm excited. People can complain about this or that, but I don't expect perfection, I expect entertainment. This isn't a DVD or Blu-ray release (and those are never perfect either), and this isn't intended for collectors and purists. It's broadcast TV. It's for everybody. Yes I hope they have the best available materials and selections, but ultimately this is a great moment - Looney Tunes and a host of other major classic cartoon franchises are going back on the air in the U.S. ! Free to air in most major markets. Me-TV is a great little network, one of the best run in the digi-net space. I don't necessarily like all of their programming choices, but that's okay. I do really appreciate this though and I hope it gets the ratings it deserves. My DVR will be set.

I saw a promo for this for my station, and it had a clip from "Ain't We Got Fun" (1937) on it. That's not a short you usually see on TV, at least I have never seen it before, so if they are playing that one, I think thats promising for some variety and not just the same stuff, plus the inclusion of the live hosts I think could be pretty fun. I just wish it was on at a later time, I'm not usually able to watch TV at 7AM and I don't have a DVR to record it. Still I'm glad it's happening
