Browsing around some cartoon libraries on the site recently, I noticed that various rare Lantz cartoons had screenshots that were of a fairly high quality and looked to be restored, but none of them appear to have an official DVD release (disregarding Columbia Houses' 'Woody Woodpecker and Friends' collections, which feature low-quality unrestored prints and edited TV prints). Here are just a few examples of cartoons I'm referring to, which again haven't recieved decent DVD releases despite the screenshots looking like that's where they came from.

So my question is this, does anyone know the source of where these high-quality screens came? I'd just be interested because I've been collecting some old-school theatrical cartoons lately, and despite the sometimes inconsistent quality of Lantz's output (at least in the 50s and 60s) I always like to have the highest-quality prints available.

I don't generally ask where screenshots come from. It's rather like looking a gift horse in the mouth. But I'll put a bug in the ear of the gentleman who provided them for us and let him weigh in if he wants.

Those screen shots all came from the DVD set: COLUMBIA HOUSE presents WOODY WOODPECKER & FRIENDS! It's long out of print but here  is more info.

That's odd, because the page  for the Columbia House Lantz sets list several cartoons as being TV prints which lack the original titles. However, screenshots for those specific cartoons (including those not released on Universal's more widely available sets) like Andy Panda's Pop, Broadway Bow Wows appear to be from theatrical prints.

I dunno, I'm kind of confused about the whole thing. I may have to get into contact with Jerry Beck.

not all the screen shot are from the same source, to make it complete, I sourced screens from another source, for instance, Broadway Bow Wows, look in the upper left of screen shots 2, 3 & 27. Andy Panda's Pop, screens 2 & 22

Ah right, a logo for something called "CTC". Based on what I've looked up, this appears to be some Russian TV network.
