Oh, wow...

"DiC was the right company to tackle Super Mario Bros. Among other shows, they’d already cashed in on Dennis the Menace, Inspector Gadget, The Real Ghostbusters, Rainbow Brite, and Care Bears."

"Cashed in" on Inspector Gadget? DiC CREATED Inspector Gadget. Brilliant research right there.

The point is that the article writer is confusing shows that DiC produced based on licensed properties (Dennis, Super Mario Bros. etc.) with a show they conceived and created themselves. He clearly thinks Gadget was some property owned by others that DiC just licenced for a cartoon show. That doesn't give a good impression of the level of research.
