It's that time of year again for CAPA's Summer Movie Series at the Ohio Theatre which means it's time for more Cartoon Capers screenings. This year marks the 50th year for the Summer movie series (actually the 15th year for the Cartoon Capers events) and what's even special is they are also going to do a two day screening of "Snow White and Seven Dwarves" early next month (this would be the first Disney animated film they ever shown for the series). Unfortunately, like the current Cartoon Capers shows, "Snow White" will be shown digitally (one of the few events for the series this year not to be shown from physical film). However, these are still worth seeing regardless and this Saturday Morning was the first of the two "Cartoon Capers" shows.
The theater was, as usual, largely packed with both kids and adults and had great reception complete with organist that played during the pre-show and intermissions. A rather unfortunate thing was that some cartoons were louder than others as some sound only came from the left speakers but that was just a minor problem as the selection was quite pleasing (all of it was from Warners). Anyway, here's the list of shorts for the first screening:
Cartoon Capers 2019, June 22:
High Diving Hare (Warner Bros., 1949)- [bugs2] [sam]
A Corny Concerto (Warner Bros., 1943)- [elmer][bugs2][porky]
The Unwelcome Guest (MGM, 1945)- [barney]
I Wanna Be a Lifeguard (Fleischer, 1936)- [popeye] [blutosmiliehere] [olivesmiliehere]
The Wearing of the Grin (Warner Bros., 1951)- [porky]
Mouse Trouble (MGM, 1944)- [tom] [jerry]
Northwest Hounded Police (MGM, 1946)- [droopy] [wolfie]
Rabbit Seasoning (Warner Bros., 1952)- [bugs2] [daffy] [elmer]
Hook, Line and Stinker (Warner Bros., 1958)- [coyote] [road]
Tom and Jerry in the Hollywood Bowl (MGM, 1950)- [tom] [jerry]
The Underground World (Famous, 1943)- [supersmiliehere][loissmiliehere]
Lumber Jerks (Warner Bros., 1955)- [gophersmiliehere]
The Milky Way (MGM, 1940)
Knight-Mare Hare (Warner Bros., 1955)- [bugs2]
Stay tune for the second screening and maybe my thoughts of the "Snow White" screening.
P.S. What ever did happen to the old Elmer smilie from the TTTP forums?
