We're just 2 days away and here's the current ranks for both formats:

Over at the WBShop, the Blu-ray and DVD currently land at #7 and 14 respectively in Pre-Orders at the Warner Archive section.

Meanwhile on Amazon, the Blu-ray is currently at #176 in Movies & TV and #6 in Anime (you read that right, I don't why it's there either).

Now because the DVD is still not up for pre-order at Amazon, it's currently at #193,627 in Movies & TV and #5660 in Anime (again, not sure why)

But you know I can see where we're coming from because a Sensu Bean is a lot like spinach. Perhaps they got this confused with the same day release of Sailor Moon Sailor Stars.

Amazon counts anything animated that's not strictly aimed at "Kids and Family" as Anime.

Anyone receive their copy yet? If so, how about posting some screenshots?

Your enthusiasm is understandable, but to be realistic, I wouldn't count on an influx of screenshots on release day. Be patient.

Out of stock on Amazon, no review on the web so far.

But I pre ordered Popeye the sailor the 1940s Volume 2 on June 3rd 2019. But how come I didn’t receive my delivery dates?

Ordered from WBShop. Haven't received a confirmation yet. Though if things go the same way as last time, I'll probably get my copy Friday.

I pre-ordered Vol. 1 from Amazon and it was the same situation as it is right now with Vol. 2. Amazon showed “out of stock” and went as far as saying it would be about a month before they’d be able to fulfill my order. Then suddenly, they had them in stock and shipped my order and it arrived on Friday the week it was released.

If it goes beyond a week and Amazon does not have the stock to fulfill orders for Vol. 2, then maybe it would be time to panic. More than likely, Amazon is going to get a shipment in the next few days and then they will start shipping orders.

BTW, I ordered Vol. 2 on May 24, and like everyone else who ordered from Amazon, my order has not shipped yet.

I ordered my copy of the DVD version on Walmart's website. I received an email from Walmart.com, late last night, notifying me of its shipment. Was told it would be in my mailbox by Friday (maybe even sooner, if I'm lucky).

I can hardly wait to look at the Cinecolor Popeyes...

Ditto.

Jerry Beck has posted screens of some of the cartoons in various places. Most of the Cinecolor shorts don't look too different from the ones released in Technicolor, but Peep in the Deep looks to be a tad washed out. Although I'm sure it will look stunning in motion.

I once saw a 16mm Cinecolor print of Abusement Park. The picture was pretty dark because, unlike Technicolor, Cinecolor stock has the picture printed on both sides of the film.

According to the Blu-ray.com thread, several online retailers are out of stock on this release. Not exactly surprising...

On the plus side, the demand for this set was obviously much higher than said retailers expected. If this is the case, then that certainly bodes well for future releases.

Gonna order mine from Amazon soon. I'm sure I'll receive it once more copies come in.

Someone got their set early.

Sadly, we have confirmation that the cut done to Popeye and the Pirates was done to the negative and is at large.

I've just created a new page about the lost scene of Popeye and the Pirates at Lost Media Wiki!

I think you should make it clear that the specific scene/shot that was edited away has NEVER been released anywhere. It was cut before the very first release of the film in 1947. That doesn't come across in the article as of now.

I had a feeling that missing shot wasn't going to be included the minute Jerry started sharing screen shots from the disc but never mentioned it. If there's ever anything he can bring attention to in order to make the disc even more enticing to fans, he does. If they had been able to restore this "lost" footage, he certainly would have put a spotlight on it.

I like the explainer slate before the cartoon starts...it answers the question once and for all. And this isn't exactly the first time animation fans have gone without those types of shots...there were multiple examples in the Looney Tunes Golden Collection as well.

And as an aside, WB Shop has sent e-mails that their orders have been shipped.
