I don't think I have to state the numerous reasons why this is a bizarre contender for an early UHD/HDR release, but I guess someone at Warners realised they could easily exploit already completed 4K remasters they may not have directly paid for. I very much doubt anyone here has bothered to upgrade to this new fledgling format and I'm very hesitant to apply "Jerry Beck economics", but the support of this release might (might!) signal to WHV that the demand for classic animation is still there... or not. All bets are off at this point.

I'd started noticing 4k HD releases at Best Buy and other stores recently without having been aware of them (do they get mentioned in advertising for new DVD/Blu-ray releases?) and never hear anybody talk about them.

When I saw it would be a "holiday collection", I assumed it would be all holiday specials. It's Magic, Play It Again, All-Stars, and It's Flashbeagle (and arguably The Mayflower Voyages) are not holiday specials, while this set won't be including the New Years, Valentines Day, Easter, or Arbor Day specials (and only two of the Christmas ones).

I started to wonder if this was just carrying over existing single-disc releases, as all of the bonus specials packaged with the "big three" holiday specials are included, but some of those are not bonus specials on those discs.

I think the biggest question I have from all of this is, "Do the specials even need a 4K remaster?". I thought that the Blu-rays WHV previously released did an excellent job at cleaning up the original masters. To me, I'm considered this will merely be a repackaging of the older releases with new specials tacked on to sell a few units.

Also, aren't standard Blu-ray Discs capable of outputting at 4K resolution (I recall a few Thunderbean and Olive Films releases outputting in 4K)

I hope that there's substantial differences between the new 4K release and that WHV isn't just repurposing old material on a new format to make a quick buck
