Is anyone else having trouble connecting to Jerry Beck's Cartoon Research site? It's been iffy for me for over a week - longer and longer delays loading - and today it doesn't connect at all. There doesn't seem to be any mention or acknowledgement of a problem on the CR Facebook page.

Last week, I was having an issue where stories would not appear on the desktop version of the site hours after they were posted (they seem to be posted 12 AM PST). Today, I went to the site and it took a second or two longer to load, but other than that I can access the site just fine.

Jerry was having problems with his old server and has had to switch to a new one. There have been some technical glitches getting it done, but things should be settling down now. He recommends that if you're still having problems to refresh your browser and see if that helps the problem.

Aaaand... Just now it connected lickety-split for me. Thanks for the info.

The only problem I've been having (and still am; shift+refresh doesn't help) involves caching of the site. When I access a page the browser generally uses the last cached version and I have to refresh the page to see the latest comments or articles. The problem is the server is returning a value in the Cache-Control field in the HTTP response that tells the browser it doesn't have to check the server for any changes up to two days after it last downloaded the page. I sent Jerry an email about this yesterday morning through the email button at the top corner of the site. No response though.

And that's what just happened again to me this evening.

I'd been having trouble accessing the site for more than a month and had chalked it up to my internet connection following a relocation. Good to know there was more to the story.

Jerry just posted this on the Facebook page in response to a "site's down" comment:

"Working on it now... In theory this is the last day of the server move. Check in two hours --- or later today."

Weird, the comments on the previous three articles are now missing.
