Ignore Universal as distributor, that's probably an error.

Unboxing video shows nifty looking red cases and seem to confirm both are presented in the 4:3 ratio:

Another confirmation they're in the aspect ratio as made!:

Kudos CBS! I would've been satisfied with the matted widescreen ratio or even have BOTH, but this was a great surprise. 🙂

Is "A Boy Name Charlie Brown" complete? I know some brief scenes were absent in some video releases.

My guess is that the previous home video releases used TV prints of the film.

I can prove that the first 3 Winnie the Pooh featurettes are TV prints on the 80's and early 90's VHS releases, before Disney used the original theatrical prints starting in the mid-90's.

Yet the VHS releases of "Winnie the Pooh and a Day for Eeyore" always used a theatrical print of some sort.

I remember, with the cut scenes from "A Boy Named Charlie Brown," after the film's theatrical release, they mainly went unseen for decades until the 2006 DVD release. It was amazing for me to see those parts for the first time (especially the football gag and Lucy videotaping it!)

Well the 1984 VHS and the pre-2002 DVD releases of the featurette used different style credits. The DVD releases credit some of the current voice actors, which are not in the short. And that was because Disney was going to do a dub of the short, but was never made.

Comments about the "I Before E Except After C" sequence,
from the “The FiveCentsPlease Blog” article,
"A Boy Named Charlie Brown and Snoopy Come Home Blu-ray discs out now"
(LINK: http://blog.fivecentsple...ie-brown-and-snoopy.html  ).

Note: Scott McGuire has typed "I Before C" instead of “I Before E” by mistake.
I just want to point out the mistake.

Mark:

“Wait, does this mean that the words at the top and bottom of the screen
in the "I before E" sequence are no longer cut off?
If so, I'm thrilled they saw the error of their moronic ways!“

Scott McGuire:

“Yes, that is correct, the top and bottoms of words in the "I Before C" song scene are no longer cut off.
For example, when they sing about "yield / achieve / cashier," the word "yield" is no longer cut off at the top,
and when they slide down the word "height," the top and bottom of "height" is no longer cut off.

It's definitely an improvement.

Note, however, that the left and right of some words are
still slightly truncated - for example, when "supersede / accede / concede" are drawn.
(The top of "accede" is no longer cut off, though.)

But I have seen a full-frame print of the film from the 1970's, and the words were
cut off in to the left and right in the same way - so I believe having the words go slightly
outside the left and right of the frame was how it was originally filmed, odd as it seems.“
