In 1988, as part of Mickey's 60th Anniversary, a Disney film festival took place in Moscow where Roy E. Disney and his wife participate and were presented a special short, "The Marathon" in honor of Mickey's 60th birthday. The event was documented a year later in a Disney Channel special called "Mickey Goes to Moscow":

Wow, the Snuffy Smith cartoon is great! I wish that a better print could be found.

On this day, fifty years ago, the world lost one of the most influential pioneers of animation, Walter Elias Disney.

As a tribute, here’s the 1973 theme park film (cropped), “The Walt Disney Story” which uses archival audio clips of Walt including one from his pitch for “Project Florida”:

As a tribute to the beloved George S. Irving ("Looks like it's the end...."), here's the 1967 Paramount cartoon, "Keep the Cool, Baby", where he did almost all the voices. Note that this was the last cartoon under Seamus Culhane's unfortunately brief tenure as executive producer at Paramount (he also co-wrote the story):

Another French Super 8 print of a 1945 Popeye cartoon with the original opening and closing music intact. (But also projected at the wrong speed.)

And here's a Super 8 print of "Toreadorable" with the original opening and closing music intact, though it's a B & W print and dubbed in German.

Now here's something I've never heard of before: a recording of a song called "Felix Keeps On Laughing" by Charles Penrose.

You know, I always wondered if this song was supposed to be a loose parody of "Baby, It's Cold Outside".

My guess is that this is a truncated version of a larger animation (I'm guessing Russia or another European country, given the uber-smooth animation).

I found the first one! Good thing I remembered how to write "monkey" in Russian. It's called "Quartet" (1947) and it's based on a fable by I. A. Krylov.

There is also a newer Ukrainian cartoon , with a more "modern" style from the 70s.
