We all know that the shorts in this set were not restored, sometimes looking like tranfers from VHS.
Not counting the WW2 shorts (included in "On the Front Lines" set), are there any DVD releases in the world which includes restored copies of them shorts?

The only Donald cartoon that was remastered before this DVD released was "Donald Duck and the Gorilla." It can be seen on the Mickey's House of Villains DVD release which I have. And because of that, the opening and closing titles are unfortunately cut out.

A remastered NO SAIL appears on the "Extreme Adventures Fun" DVD, confusingly released around the same time.

I'm confused... did these shorts really look THAT bad compared to other Treasures sets? I watched through almost all of them on the Norwegian PAL DVD release of Donald Vol. 2 many years ago, and I can't remember ever thinking that they looked like VHS quality (or even that bad for DVD).

http://www.kinomagasinet...A5r-bak-Donald-samlingen  - the idea to make and release this Blu-ray came from Espen Solberg, the leader of the Norwegian Walt Disney Company department. As Nordberg says at one point, "The result [of my pushing to get this Blu-ray released] was that the whole of Scandinavia is now releasing the collection, as well as several other European countries." (Use Google Translate if you want to read the whole thing.)

I own the Christmas Blu-ray myself and it is highly recommended... the shorts look amazing.

Please do post screenshots of your Treasures set because it could surprise us. The shorts in the US release do not look as marvellous as the ones in the "Chronological Donald Volume 1" and,as said, several of them look like VHS releases.

Is the DVD version of Donald Duck's Christmas Favorites also restored? I found a copy on Amazon IT.

Them shots are from the US release. Don't be fooled by the ones from WW2 shorts (restored for another release). As you can see the general quality of the restoration is inferior than the usual Treasures'. Several of the shorts look like transfers from VHS, including the ones shots are taken from in the review you linked to.

They're not restored at all actually. Some have dot crawl which means they used a Composite source. This happens on old masters from the 80s.

The R2 version is on my wishlist, so I'll let you know soon.

I think a restored version of "Donald's Tire Trouble" is on one of the "Have A Laugh" DVD's.
