The following occurred to me the other day as I thought about the restoration of several Warner shorts that were reissued as Blue Ribbons without their opening rings but with their title/credit slates (shorts released after 1948).
http://betterlivingtv.bl...8/blue-ribbon-blues.html Looking at the reissue schedules from 1956-1959, I notice the following:
1956-57:
4301: Mouse Mazurka
4302: Paying the Piper
4303: Daffy Duck Hunt
4304: Henhouse Henery
4305: Swallow The Leader
4306 For Scent-imental Reasons (not restored on DVD but original rings known to exist)4307: Mouse Wreckers
4308: Dough for the Do-Do
4309: Fast and Furry-ous
4310: Bear Feat
4311: Each Dawn I Crow

5309: Caveman Inki
5310: It’s Hummer Time
5311: A Fractured Leghorn

1958-59:
6301: Bowery Bugs
6302: An Egg Scramble
6303: Wise Quackers
6304: Two’s a Crowd
6305: Canary Row (restored on LT Platinum Collection Vol. 3)6306: Dog Collared (restored on LTSS: Hilarious Ham DVD)6307: Fox in a Fix
6308: My Bunny Lies Over the Sea
6309: Golden Yeggs
6310: Scent-imental Romeo
6311: Canned Feud (restored on LT Platinum Collection Vol. 2)6312: Early to Bet
6313: Boobs in the Woods
6314: The Bee-Deviled Bruin
6315: High-Diving Hare
6316: Doggone South (restored on LT Golden Collection Vol. 6)So, of 44 reissued shorts in that period, 9 have had their rings restored, with two more that could have been restored under more ideal circumstances. That's a quarter of the total. Expand out a few more release years and we also get "A Ham in a Role" as well.
It makes me wonder that if Warner Home Video were to truly commit to restoring the Looney Tunes library, how many more of that group could be restored to their original release configuration (to say nothing of other Blue Ribbons)?
