I am working on a research project on a Soviet photomontage artist, Aleksandr Zhitomirsky.

This photomontage was done in 1968. The dinosaurs seem to be have been taken from stills or production photographs from an animated film. The background and foreground may have been added by the artist. Similarly, the two dinosaurs may have been taken from different source images.

I am hoping that someone might be able to identify a possible source. Any leads would be most appreciated!

This looks like a parody of a similar scene in "The Rite of Spring" from Fantasia.

Wow. I just watched the clip and it is uncanny how similar the two are!!! Okay -- now I need to look into the reception of Fantasia in Soviet culture. Stravinsky, after all...
