A rare find of the reissue prints of the 40's Woody Woodpecker cartoons. Only one with reissue titles is on the Woody Woodpecker & Friends Classic Cartoon Collection DVD releases which I have.

Universal also used a reissue print of "Wet Blanket Policy" on one of their VHS releases from the 1980's.

When I saw these reissue prints on TV circa 1980, they had the Universal logo that was first used in 1963 at the beginning.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/...-350-spool-/331588442319

http://www.ebay.com/itm/...5-VG-print-/301679657612  - a 16mm print of For Better or Worser, also with the original titles. Washed-out highlights. Cha-ching.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/...le-section-/301691355907  - Whoa. Same seller, same starting price. No bids.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/...le-section-/221837229777  - Take two. STILL no bids... from anyone else.

Looking at the seller's other prints, it looks like he's just taking screenshots from the Internet and using those to represent his prints. His 16mm Eastman LPP of "Hollywood Canine Canteen" is particularly inane in this regard.

The irony of that spliced-on end title to "Tale of Two Mice" (which was the cartoon's original title) is that it's actually close to how the cartoon originally ended. Looks like it was sourced from an Eastman of "Plane Daffy", though.

Now here's something: a widescreen "scope" print of Cinderella with an early '80s Buena Vista logo. Must've been from the 1982 re-release. (LINK )

Cinderella was only re-issued in 1981 and 1987 during the 80's decade, so I consider this a 1981 re-issue print.

Sad to think that some people who visit the forum may have no respect for the likes of Jerry Beck.

Well, *I* do (after all, he co-authored books on the WB cartoons starting in the early 80s and worked on "Of Mice & Magic" w/Leonard Maltin going back to 1980.) (among Jerry's other accomplishments.)

Finally we get to at least see some screenshots of the opening titles to the stand alone version of "Blame It On The Samba."

And I'm not surprised to see there exists a later re-issue print of "Three Little Pigs" from I believe the late 60's or early 70's since it was re-issued many times of course. But of course Disney only has the original print which we see on circulation today.

A 35 MM print of "Looney Tunes: Back In Action" (Yes, I know this had a lot of meddling from clueless Warner suits, but it was still better than "Space Jam"):

For more information on those Kiddierama Arcades, see these links (dig that off-model drawing of Woody Woodpecker!):

It's interesting how Lantz cartoons and Terrytoons played in the same machine. (Then again, both studios were considered "children's cartoon-makers"...it didn't help that the cartoons Lantz and Terry/CBS were putting out at this point were kiddie fodder.)

Something I never seen or heard since I was born in the early 90's. Very interesting to see cabinets from the 70's that played 1 of the 3 cartoons everytime you spent a quarter. I wonder if Disney, WB, or MGM also did this for their cartoons too?

From my research and conversations kiddierama had a licensing deal with the Lantz's studio. Lantz later in life was not opposed to a new revenue stream and personally oversaw the production of the 8mm reel cartoon shorts for these players. Replacements reels had to be ordered directly from the studio after showing documentation of ownership of a kiddierama.
Just a guess but a venture like this might have been a little too small of a licensing play for a large company like disney/wb
