It is one of the 2 cartoons in which Casper tries to commit suicide, which kept if off the Harveytoons Show TV broadcasts and the DVD set. And the redubbed "Casper and Friends" cut from the bees dumping honey on Casper to Goldie swimming around Casper (though the rock is still tied around Casper's neck). It was released on VHS uncensored in the early 1990's.

That Paramount end title actually appears to be original to the print, though it's still only 7 frames. It's actually the opening Paramount and Casper titles that don't look original to the print; notice that on those, the spaces between the frames are grey, while on the rest of the print, they're black.

Here's a few other 35mm Technicolor Paramount cartoon prints from the same seller that have also sold:

- Jitterbug Jive  (1950 Popeye). Interestingly, this print is not hard-matted to Academy ratio, instead having the full picture height from the negative, revealing edges of artwork and even what look like cel registration pins.

- Huey's Ducky Daddy  (1953 Noveltoon featuring Baby Huey). End title replaced with one from the late 1950s or 1960s.

- Starting From Hatch  (1953 Noveltoon featuring Baby Huey). End title replaced just like the above one.

Speaking of VHS releases, do there exist 80's and 90's VHS releases of the Harveytoons cartoons (I mean before "The Harveytoons Show" existed in 1998) featuring other characters besides Casper in their correct sound pitch? I would like to know (The Harveytoons Show" uses mostly time-compressed versions where the audio is pitched up with only a few cartoons that kept their original pitch like "Swab the Duck" and "Winner By A Hare").

Yes there are, there was some for the other Famous stars Harvey owned, released in the 80s by Worldvision.

One of them included "No Ifs Ands or Butts" in the Buzzy tape.

Also, the Worldvision Little Audrey tape included "Hold the Lion Please" and "Fishing Tackler", both of which were left out of the Harveytoons Show and its DVD set. And the Worldvision Herman and Katnip tape used an uncensored print of "Drinks on the Mouse".

I have the "Herman and Katnip" and "Buzzy" tape from a video rental store. I haven't had luck on finding the three others.

Only if I wish I could find them on Amazon and Ebay, but I had a hard time finding them. So if anyone can send a link to any of the videos I would appreciate it.

Here's a nice 35mm Technicolor print of the 1952 Casper cartoon Cage Fright that sold a couple days ago. Wish I had a collecting budget that big.

Thad K. has a 16mm Eastmancolor print of Johann Mouse (1953 Tom and Jerry) up for auction with the rare "Academy Award Best Cartoon 1952" opening card. Interestingly, note that the card is designed for Academy ratio and is very similar to the one on the 1953 reissue of Quiet Please! (1945).

Don't forget "CHIP AN' DALE " with the original RKO title cards. Such a shame Disney isn't getting aware of this. They would look good in remastered quality on DVD and Blu Ray.

I know what you mean because I would like to see Disney seek out and restore as many original titles as possible. However, the people at Disney have exactly the same opportunity to bid on these prints as anyone else (plus the company have the resources to seek out many more) if the interest is there. For all we know perhaps they are? I can't speak on behalf of anyone, but I'm sure the big companies could work with the researchers locating these prints if they want them. I don't know if Disney are interested in finding every original title and lost piece of footage, but we do know that they have worked with researchers to find things like lost Oswald cartoons.

"Honestly, I really wish this kind of thing wasn't public information on a forum like this .
Sorry if I sound curt, but while these are unique finds, this is the kind of thing that
you guys should notify trusted members of the animation community (on a private
message) in case it falls into the wrong hands."

Yes, I see what you mean too. Perhaps a solution would be to post the link after bidding is over?

He also has 16mm prints of Up A Tree (with the original RKO logo!) , The Litterbug (in LPP color) , and The Simple Things (with original RKO titles) , not to mention a 16mm Eastman of Tex Avery's The Cuckoo Clock .

Here's a 16mm B&W dupe print of the Tex Avery Warner Bros. cartoon Wacky Wild Life (1940) with the original opening title(s) that sold yesterday morning.

Whoa!! Here's a 35mm Technicolor safety print of the Popeye cartoon We're On Our Way to Rio (1944) that sold this past evening.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/...NT-VG-COND-/381262891320

Another un-hard-matted print. Nice to see the normally hidden full height of the early Famous Studios Paramount mountain.

And it's in the right hands this time!

Our great user Steve here.

But seriously, davespeanuts is an overpriced seller, selling one reel shorts for ridiculous prices. (Though to be fair I got one of his prints for cheap)

Allthough it's shifted to red and is vinegar, this  is worth bidding for a high price. And I'm sure if another IB Tech print resurfaced of the same film linked in the last sentence, it would go for crazy.

But not vintage one-reel shorts. Sure they're not available on DVD with original titles (or even on an official DVD release at all).......but are they THAT VALUABLE?

I can't afford 3/4 of what davespeanuts sells. And if he sells something sought after for me (some of them already were, like Animaniacs "I'm Mad"), then would any of my pals be able to break the bank for a winning bid?

Quite glad this cartoon ended up in good hands, but yikes that's must've been a significant setback financially speaking.

It's pretty typical for these things to spring up super high in the last minutes of the auction.. but it is to a crazy point now!

I won the 'We're on Our Way to Rio' print-it's the most I've ever seen a single cartoon go for I think (and more than I've ever paid for any cartoon- EVER. OUCH!)

Look in the Thunderbean section for one of those 'Special' discs- perhaps the last of them- and perhaps it will feature siad cartoon!

You paid an arm and a leg for a clear version of the orange Para-mountain logo? HAW!
(I kid -- congratulations, pal!)
