I have been reading Bob Thomas' Walt Disney: The Art of Animation for my writing of a history of the Golden Age, and found an anecdote that famed Disney stylist Albert "He Drew As He Pleased" Hurter invented cartooniness while animating a Mutt 'N Jeff. I can't post the excerpt, but it apparently was an accident involving "Mutt leaning against a railing next to a deep precipice". The cameraman made an accident where Mutt is floating, so it was left in. Please tell me, if you know, which one this was!

The cartoon would have to be found for it to be identified; the Mutt and Jeff cartoons were never copyrighted and synopsizes on the majority of them are hard to find, even with reviews. Similar issues can occur for some Felix fragments as the Winkler era shorts were never copyrighted, though most of those do survive at least, it just takes some research
