I hope you will all join us for the Columbus Moving Picture Show over Memorial Day weekend May 25-28 in Columbus, Ohio.
Visit our website here.

Saturday morning at 10:15 a.m. enjoy beautiful prints of a variety of animated films including an Oswald the Lucky Rabbit cartoon, a sing-along with Lillian Roth, and The Tangled Angler, which we meant to show last year, but wound up running Tangled Travels by mistake.

This is a friendly event for hardcore film buffs and novices alike. In addition to the 16mm film screenings, we have a massive dealer space, seminars and book signings. Steve Stanchfield of Thunderbean Animation is one of our dealers.

See you at the Picture Show!

Thank you for posting this. As I live in the Columbus area, I will be attending again as I usually do. I always look forward to meet Steve at the convention.

I might as well do a recap on today's Annual Animation Program. It was a great turn out and lineup, although, my favorite animation studio wasn't represented (however, Oswald was represented). The Columbia cartoon, "The Tangled Angler"(by Taslin) was showed this time after the wrong short from the same studio, "Tangled Travels" (1944) was shown instead during last year's show. A strange thing is that they showed a print of MGM's "Dance of the Weed" a few hours after it aired on METV and I somehow sensed that the short was going to be in the lineup as it played on the channel! Anyway, here's the line-up:

Joint Wipers (Van Beuren, 1932)

Hollywood Diet (Terrytoons, 1932)

Down Among the Sugar Cane (Fleischer, 1932)

Ham and Eggs (Lantz, 1933)

The Masque Raid (Columbia, 1937)

She Was an Acrobat's Daughter (Warners, 1937)- APP print

The Frog Pond (Columbia, 1938)- miscredited to Warners in the program booklet

The Tangled Angler (Columbia, 1941)

Dance of the Weed (MGM, 1941)

Sh-h-h-h-h-h (Lantz, 1955)- TV print

Overall, a good showing. I got to see Thad there, although I didn't see Steve as he was still on his way to the convention. I also found a copy of the 1988 edition of "The Fleischer Story" by Leslie Cabarga. Here's to next year's convention.
