If the Warner Archive is really redoing the title to fix photoshop errors, surely they can pop out a couple of discs. But, no.

You seem unfamiliar with the basic inner-workings of bloated bureaucracies. Just because one department is cleared to do one thing doesn't mean they're cleared to do everything.

It's heartening JB and GF have successfully lobbied to fix this ahistorical vandalism. They know it was wrong, and it's also cheap enough of a fix that the small department can be deemed "worthy" to handle it. It's also more likely the affected cartoons, largely '30s and early '40s cartoons without any of the main characters, could be cleared for a WAC release, so it's a net positive: fixing releasable material at a low cost to the department.

(Now if they can lobby to rescan the audio tracks, instead of reusing the same 1995 Turner transfers that sound absolutely horrible on any proper sound system...)

Even better, lobby them to fix the pitch of the audio on a number of the Looney Tunes shorts.

I believe the pitch issue comes from European tracks slowed down to convert with PAL speed so that they would play right. How they became standard for home releases, I'm unsure and its a bit shameful

It isn't just the tracks, they're at the wrong speed completely.

So, even if WAC did get the go-ahead to put anything out, it would just be the pre-48 one-shots?

We're never going to see the unreleased character shorts, are we? Especially now that they've been yoinked from streaming.

I don't think that's what Thad is saying exactly, he's saying it would be the most likely. Keep in mind is that the focus is stuff not out on disc before, which likely means if WAC is to do a Looney Tunes set, it would be these one offs, pre or post 1948. I think what happened with the removal is no indicator or which ones would be put out should WAC be able to release the cartoons to Blu-ray

Now, in terms of character releases, it is possible that WAC would be able to sprinkle in the newly restored character based cartoons, but I would think the regular home release division would handle these. That said, it is bold to assume this, or try to guess a lot of this for that matter. Because a lot of the newly restored films, from any year, character based or not, is likely not out of the question. If anything, the fact that they're being reworked to have non-photoshopped titles is a good indication that there is interest in a proper release, but they don't have approval for this yet. With this in mind, it's too bold to immediately assume never

But it's WB's 100th anniversary this year. They're going all in on home video because of that. This year would be the perfect time to do some sets to tie in with the centennial.

If they don't have approval for anything yet, than the Looney Tunes are going to skip the centennial entirely, which might as well be never because there won't be another advantageous release window any time soon.

For those looking for a more definitive answer to this without going off-topic, as this thread already has, see my new thread to discuss

Aha! That partly explains why some of Warner's animation library including "The Flintstones" is officially on Tubi again (it was gone for a bit last year). And no there is no Looney Tune content currently on there right now except for the film "Looney Tunes: Back in Action."

However, I may or may not have suggested and request them to add them on the service (although, that's easier said than done).

Now I got word that according to Prime, at the end of this month HBO Max will be removing most of its' pre-1990s animated content!

I'm hearing reports of what's happening that would explain the removal of very popular classic animation; WB is setting up yet another streaming service with ads similar to PlutoTV, which is where I bet the cartoons are going

What's hilarious/sad/pathetic is that Corn on the Cop is still listed and playable on HBO Max, even though that's part of the post-51 lineup. So not only does current WB not even know its own catalogue, but they're showing something they're technically not paying for.

As I'm sure all of you saw, HBO Max was supposedly removing the rest of the shorts, but now is clarifying this was an "error". After removing half of the shorts already, I think this isn't true. Especially after the recent mishaps with handling COYOTE VS ACME and seeing how quick the response was. Its easy for them to backtrack and say it was an error. Anyone else think so?

Tell that to my sister, who wants to get rid of ALL of my DVD's (and Blu-rays) and also get rid of ALL of my books.
