There's a point to critique people who post things without a source and take it on good word. It doesn't confirm anything. But you shouldn't be personal about it, and at least find and post evidence for an answer

I didn't have an issue with it personally but it's unprofessional. Personally I am taking this with a grain of salt. And the thought that this is so they can fix the titles I don't fully buy.

Let's just agree on this; this is why physical media is still important and why people shouldn't abandon it.

Okay, I need to address several things.

First of all, nowhere does Wiley's message mention that this information came from Jerry Beck.

However, a source for this would be appreciated, given HBO Max's lack of transparency in the past.

Second, I'm disappointed by the uncivil bickering that stemmed from one member simply asking for a citation to this statement. It's fine to be skeptical and ask for sources, but something like this

could have been handled with a lot more tact. It's perfectly fine to dislike another member's behavior, but please be civil about it. The issue here was the unnecessary pulling of personality into the discussion.

Yeah I don't know where people thought he said he got his source from Jerry Beck. Another thing too, it's important to remember, Beck is just an occasional consultant for Warner Archive Collection and Warner Home Video. He doesn't work for Warner. Realistically, he really wouldn't know the inner workings of HBO Max.

There's also no official confirmation that the removal of the shorts and the restoration program are linked.

This entire forum post has as much energy as Zaslav cutting several children from the family tree without remorse or warning.

And Hard Drive made an article out of it.

For some clarity, the post I got Jerry's comment from is a FB post by Wiley claiming to source the information from Jerry. I was under the impression he said the same here, but I was mistaken, so, sorry in those regards

I thought we were after a source for this statement. This is what I’d like to know the source of.

Did he really say that, or is that something that's been grossly misinterpreted or misconstrued.

I've asked several people who watched it like Derek and MTGM and according to them, Jerry did indeed say it.

Okay okay, this needs to stop. I know Derek and Marcus well, and I'm sure their right, but can we please stop using mouth to mouth as a means of source and actually provide proof going forward? It would make things so much clearer and get rid of any untrust between people

You know, my mom always used to say to me "WHY DON'T YOU GET OUT OF THE BATHROOM AND GIVE SOMEONE ELSE A CHANCE!" But beyond that, she used to say that if there's questions about a source, go right to the source to get clarification. I had a chance to chat with Jerry Beck himself this afternoon; here is what he had to say:

It seems that some of the people on this forum have turned separate statements made into a convoluted game of "telephone", mashing things together so that no one knows who said what. ...

To break that down - My only quote is (which isn't entirely accurate) is: "Warner Bros.- Discovery is re-restoring those newly-restored shorts on HBO Max, possibly to fix all those weird Photoshop errors and such". Nothing else is attributed to me (nor was said by me). I believe that quote was a version of something I said on Stu's Show. The "true" part of that mis-quote is that Warner Archive Collection (of which I consult to George Feltenstein) IS indeed re-restoring the Photoshop errors on HBO-Max's Looney Tunes... for a future use still to be determined. ...

To clarify: Warner Archive Collection has NOTHING to do with HBO-Max (other than HBO-Max has been using restorations Warner Archive Collection previously made for DVD and blu-ray release). ... Warner Archive Collection (physical media) is a separate division from HBO-Max (streaming); what happens in one division is unknown to the folks in another division. I do not know what HBO-Max is doing. I have no idea why they pulled the post-1950 cartoons off the service. From what I can see, I don't think the people running HBO-Max understand how important the classic cartoons are to the service. I hope they return - or show up somewhere else soon.

Variety goes into some more detail.

引用:

The “Looney Tunes” and “Flintstones” content was licensed to HBO Max from Warner Bros. under an intra-company deal. Those licensing agreements expired at the end of 2022 and HBO Max did not renew them, as it seeks to reduce content expenses. It’s unclear whether the “Looney Tunes” and “Flintstones” content that is no longer on HBO Max will be available other streaming platforms.

引用:

A source familiar with HBO Max told Variety that the “Looney Tunes” shorts will not, in fact, be coming back to the service.

I think this whole ordeal wouldn't have been nearly as bad if Warner's continued to put out Looney Tunes on Blu-ray and DVD and reissued the Platinum collection blu-rays.

It's kinda funny how HBO Max replaced Boomerang as the go to place for Classic Cartoons like Looney Tunes and such but now HBO Max fell off hard and Boomerang has a better selection of classic cartoons.
