We will be doing regular maintenance on the site tomorrow afternoon, so the site may be down between 12:00 and 2:00pm tomorrow, 4/28/2022.

Go outside. Get some fresh air. Read a book. Mow your lawn. Put on a Santa suit and go scare the neighbors. We'll still be here when we get back.

So basically, Intanibase's 2 hours of play.

I like it. Wish you luck on the maintenance.

Is that PST or EST?

Eutychus is on the East Coast, so likely EST. As it should be

Yes, EST, although I might be running late so it might extend until 3:00.

Thanks. I wasn't sure cuz I only just realized how most people I talk to online are in California. Now, where's my Santa suit?!

I think there's still more work to do.

Well, that was fun.

The upgrade didn't take. And I was finding too many issues with it to continue so I reverted back to the version we were using before for the time being. Maybe we'll try it another time when I have more time to deal and test it out but two days downtime was just too much for me.

There are a few cosmetic issues that need to be dealt with but on the whole, we're back up. The only thing that might affect you is that avatars seem to have been lost so you may have to re-upload them. Please let me know if any other issues crop up.

Clicking on a post on the main page no longer takes you directly to it; rather, it takes you to the forum.

We should really fix that.

You can no longer thank, or look at nonfictions by clicking on the bell

User profile URLs also now lead to the forum index. The scripted popup that appears when hovering over a username displays the following instead of profile details:

Sorry, no data found or something went wrong.SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 3 column 1 of the JSON data

And plain quote blocks now have a "Citar" label instead of "Quote".

Clicking on the "thank" button doesn't appear to have any effect.

I don't know if this counts as a maintenance issue, but all through this week, only four new sets of screenshots have been added three times, when it's usually five.

And speaking of the design... off-topic, and I'm sorry to be so blunt, but I've been keeping quiet about it forever: why is the current design of this forum so terrible? It's simply counter-productive in every possible way. Many buttons are made invisible because they're in the same color as the background, and the comment layout actually makes it difficult to distinguish between quoted comments and new comments. It's a turnoff whenever I visit the forum these days, and honestly one of the reasons I don't do it much. Can we please get the old design from a few years ago back? Or at least something that works better than this?

To be completely honest, and you're probably not going to like this answer, but the message boards is way down on my list of concerns as far as this whole mess goes. As I think Toadette mentioned once, we're kind of in the boondocks as far as the animation community goes. We only have about 10 to 12 people who post here on a regular basis and the number of active threads I can pretty much count on one hand. And with the extremely limited amount of time I currently have to work on the site, I would rather devote most of it to the database itself, which was really the main thrust of this whole thing anyway.

PS. I don't know if it will help any, but I've set it up so you can chance the theme if you wish. Click on your username, then "My Settings" and "Edit Settings" and there should be a place where you can change the theme. Please note that it will change the theme for the entire site, not just the message board. We'll be working on that, Like I said, I don't know if that will help at all, but give it a try.

Alright, I've tinkered around with the available themes. First of all, I'm glad we have more options, but unfortunately it seems the link colors don't properly update on darker themes. Since the hyperlink color for this forum is a dark blue, this results in link text being very hard to read on those themes.

Thanks for adding my complaints from the other thread. I'd like to add this, too, to the list of suggestions for possible changes:

UserPostedImage

In the current forum design, whenever we right-click a link, we for some reason get these options to "quote", "reply" etc. to the comment. I don't understand why anyone would want that, considering that the buttons for "Reply" and "Reply with Quote" are located right underneath each comment. What we want when we right-click a link is the option to open it in another tab, or in a new window, etc. That's how it works on pretty much every website out there.
