Note: it begins at 10P /9C, and the first episode is airing. It’s mostly recaps of horror movies, and isn’t as fun as the main show in my opinion, I wish they would show a spooky cartoon. If you like the segments you might like it

We also need to mention At Your Service Madame was the dubbed version.

I think we've got rid of him. Now, nobody make any more pointless remarks or the chat is closing up.

Just tell me whenever significant has happened, like that Fox and Crow getting back on Toon in with Me.

Yep. Its me again. The one who caused all the fiasco. Before I get suspended again I will say a few things. When i first joined this I thought it was going to be fun. I was wrong. But I'm not that old, I'm not even 15 yet. So that would explain how ive been acting. There has to be a way I can stay on. I'll do anything. I'll cut out the race stuff and useless information. I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Your member, Jack.

It isn't my intention to actually take on keeping track of what Columbia cartoons get aired, but since no one else brought them up, there are at least several more that aired in the recent past and got uploaded on YouTube: Big House Blues  (1947), Grape Nutty  (1949), Birds in Love  (1936), Loco Lobo  (1947), and The Fox and the Grapes  (1941), as well as The Little Match Girl  in the same poorly-graded restoration that was released last year, amusingly with a botched aspect ratio (and upsampled from SD?!).

I neglected to mention it before but another problem worth mentioning with these MeTV airings is the dynamic range compression they're applying to the soundtracks. This raises the volume of quieter parts of the audio to be closer in loudness to the louder parts. Suffice to say that this is a considerable distortion from the way the audio originally sounded and was meant to sound. From the uploads of Warner Bros. cartoons that I've sampled, they're apparently doing this to those too. Perhaps Neal Sabin is "one of us" in terms of trying to get this stuff out there, but between this and the lousy incorrect deinterlacing they're using for the SD masters, and the widescreen cropping in the airings apart from "Toon In with Me", they don't seem to care too much about doing it right and presenting the material faithfully. (Granted, the modern WB cartoon "restorations" that make up much of what they air can hardly be called "faithful" either.)

There's some speculation in the video comments on whether the odd truncated opening theme on The Fox and the Grapes is a reissue alteration, but given that Tashlin's The Tangled Angler, released in close proximity, also uses a truncated version of the opening theme (albeit differently and with cartoon-specific music for the title card as usual) and it would be unusual for Columbia to have altered the soundtrack for a reissue, I'm leaning toward it being original.

The Little Match Girl (and Cat, Dog, and Canary) are the only two that have aired in HD transfers, and the incorrect aspect ratio seems to be a thing that plagued some of these SD remasters, but not all of them. I've seen a few Fox and Crows with the incorrect aspect ratio from the show, I think Little Match Girl might've had it on the show and they decided to give it that odd stretch again. Birds in Love (which was probably sourced from a print and not a master) looked worse than The Little Match Girl. MeTV runs what they are given and they are not there to do their homework and correct mistakes on the copies they are given, the compressed audio is the only thing that is their fault, and I'm not sure why

"Pappy's Puppy" (1955) and "Daffy's Southern Exposure" (1942) are both scheduled for April 30th.
No clue if both are restored or not, but we'll find out soon enough.

Also, "Horton Hatches the Egg" (1942) was censored for content yesterday morning, unlike 5/22/21's broadcast where it was uncensored there.

MeTV has finally acquired the copyrighted 50s Famous Studios Popeyes (much to the certain delight of Steve Birely.) "How Green is My Spinach," "Vacation With Play," and "Mister and Mistletoe" are scheduled to run alongside "Popeye Makes a Movie" on May 7th's Popeye show. Will they be restored, or will they be the old Turner prints? Expect the latter, but restoration in the vein of the LT/MM product is an interesting prospect to consider.

For those that remember the Bugs Bunny week last year on MeTV, they're doing another concept week again, this time centered around rivalries!

If you're referring to my Popeye post, I'm not raresox and am not trolling. Look at the schedule for yourself:

Whoa, so this thread got "revived" somehow? I was completely out of the loop due to me focusing on other things in my life at the moment.

Anyways, I think I will contribute to the topic (whilst trying to avoid speculation... I hope.):

For anyone interested, MeTV aired "From Hand to Mouse" with the American Indian scene uncut, but removed the African Native scene (both of which were likely the reasons of this short getting pulled from the HBO Max streaming service almost two years ago).

Those 1950s "Popeye" shorts I can, with 99% confidence, state are not going to air restored on MeTV next month; they've already done this with the public domain 50s "Popeye" shorts, so how are we supposed to believe that they will air in HD. Those are wishes best left on Warner Archive since they usually deal with these sorts of things. Of course, I could be wrong.

On that topic, I would like to warn everybody that, this SMC airing might end up including "Daffy's Southern Exposure" and "Pappy's Puppy" both unrestored... Let me explain the full story. I am NOT going to start speculation here (maybe a LITTLE), because this is news coming in four days, but I need to get this off my chest and want to bring some "foreshadowing" to this situation here.

I was notified by a person I know on YouTube, warning me that "Daffy's Southern Exposure" is, in fact, potentially unrestored. However, this person is not someone with the knowledge of these shorts' statuses like people such as Jerry Beck, S.C MacPeter, RareSox, or anybody who professionally releases information on these cartoons, and is a completely regular user on YouTube uploading random cartoon/logo content. Below, I've attached a screenshot to concede with this rumor that I've received, which, I hope isn't true, but at the same thing, I unfortunately think is now possibly likely thanks to all of this and WB and MeTV's recent actions; HOWEVER, please do not send harassment to this person. As for "Pappy's Puppy"... I don't think I need another say in that.

UserPostedImage

Because, here's the thing; the "unrestorables" rumor that has been spread on these LT shorts is completely false and misinformation - these shorts are either suffering from negative damage, were overlooked, or were neglected to be brought to HD quality thanks to the merger that WB was more focused on, period.

There, I've got that off my chest. I apologize for what I've said and I am likely going to get a warning, but I'm honest and truly not speculating. Only bringing some information on future news (50s "Popeyes" and the two LTs) for MeTV that is to pop up. Make on it as you'd all like with this information and take it with a grain of salt. I'm out.

I may also like to add in, as seen from Monday's airing, Nutty News was aired restored (a la WarnerMedia RIDE copy) with the Adolf Hitler scene uncut.

Although the title card was not shown in an upside down position (unlike the title card), much like the WarnerMedia RIDE copy). Besides that, it's largely uncensored.

As we feared, Pappy's Puppy aired unrestored today on Saturday Morning Cartoons.
