I hope you meant constructive.

I agree with you. However, when you make statements like, "I don't think a timeslot..." You must remember it's just your opinion on that topic.

Breaking forum rules is something to keep a handle on. Differing opinions about whether a cartoon will be edited or not, if they are civil and respectful shouldn't be viewed as "out of control" speech. That's a big thumb you are using on those guys. I love all the info I'm learning here and I hope some aren't stifled from adding notes to the MeTV topic.

Happy Holidays to all!!

Honestly, I think that if anyone here is actually okay with casually exposing kids to racial stereotypes while they're preparing for school or eating breakfast (and I'm not saying anyone here is - not yet at least), then that person really needs to stop and reconsider themselves. Additionally, part of the duty of a moderator is to step in and put an end to things whenever they start to get too heated between users.

In any case, this is already getting incredibly off-topic, so if you have any further feedback re: our moderation, please take it to a separate thread or private messages, thank you.

A little late responding to this, but got it!

Anyways, on to the main course for today.

Did "Gift Wrapped" and "I Was a Teenage Thumb" air edited on this week's run?

Roxen. We dropped the conversation after Toadette called us out.

Take that conversation into the DMs. We don't want to upset S.C. MacPeter again over this. Not trying to be rude, just want to move away from talking about stereotypes on a forum about cartoons.

Gift Wrapped runtime was 7:20ish.

I Was a Teenage Thumb runtime was 6:51ish.

Oh, I see; but "I Was a Teenage Thumb" had swearing. Oh well, understood.

Ass is basically another term for "Donkey". Such as, "He sure made an ass out of himself tonight".

Figures it would help make sense.

When is WB releasing a new batch of "Looney Tunes" shorts on HBO Max or WarnerMedia RIDE? They have literally done nothing this month for MeTV, aside from an edited B&W Porky Pig short that I have mentioned here previously.

The waiting is now becoming tiresome and 2021 has been a horrible year for everybody, me included (of course, for other reasons).

That might be a discussion worth talking about on the HBO Max topic, but since we're in reruns till next year, here Jon Cooke's count of how many unique shorts have aired on MeTV this year.

The count? 1,284!

Here's a rundown:
1 Fleischer Color Classics (new since 11/30)
1 Walter Lantz
5 Columbia/Screen Gems (new since 11/30)
38 Fleischer Betty Boop
113 DFE (62 Pink Panther, 34 Inspector, 17 Rattfink)
159 Popeye (59 Famous, 97 Fleischer, 3 KFS)
273 MGM
694 WB (+17 since 11/30)

Where did you find the count?

Jon posted it on the Toon in with me FB group he runs with Thad & Matt Hunter. He's been keeping track since day 1 and has posted monthly updates since June or July of how many unique cartoons have aired

Since this year is coming to an end, I think I will end it off positively with this message, about MeTV and others.

I will start off with the bad stuff first.

Ten or eleven "Looney Tunes" shorts were revealed to be unrestored, due to MeTV airings (some of them may already be restored, though).

In addition, no new stuff on HBO Max. For a whole year!

Now, for the good stuff.

Thankfully, thanks to MeTV, we've got some problematic LT shorts (edited or not) restored, which may or may not come to HBO Max.

We also got a small batch of "Looney Tunes" shorts on WarnerMedia RIDE and Volume 3 of Tex Avery (the latter of which MeTV has yet to get [alongside updated restored versions of unreleased, unrestored LT shorts, as well as most of those modern day television shorts], though most of the former has been given to them), so that's nice.

Here's hoping for 2022 to be a better year, and those ten/eleven LT shorts to be fixed and restored soon. Also hoping for Volume 4 of Tex Avery, as well as MeTV to get better with their airings regarding "Looney Tunes". Happy New Year!

Roxen.

Can you name those 10/11 that were revealed as not restored?

Here they are.

"Ain't That Ducky"

"Catch as Cats Can"

"I Taw a Putty Tat"

"A-Lad-In His Lamp"

"Holiday for Drumsticks"

"Each Dawn I Crow"

"Muzzle Tough" (already restored for the I Love Tweety Japanese DVD; needs an American release now)

"Beanstalk Bunny"

"Unnatural History" (the only one-shot here)

"What's My Lion?"

"Run, Run, Sweet Road Runner" (the only DFE short here)

"Peck Up Your Troubles" might be another unfortunate victim, as it pops up next week on Saturday. If I was to take a guess, "Brother Brat", "Mexican Joyride" (praying this is not the case), and "Pappy's Puppy" might be the final offenders.

I'd like to fill in, seeing how we've been seeing the public domain Betty Boops fill in from time to time, I do wonder if there could be a chance for Toon in with Me to present Van Beuren shorts to some extent, seeing how most of them fall under the public domain.

I ask this, because S.C. MacPeter mentioned something about expecting more public domain shorts on the show. Maybe if they want the best copies, they can contact Thunderbean Animation for them.

Just my speculation, but I would like to hear your thoughts on the matter.

From my own knowledge, cannot confirm Brother Brat and the forecoming Peck Up Your Troubles are restored. They will likely be airing that faded Eastman copy in a few days on MeTV

I do hope Warner gets to restoring them. A Tale of Two Mice stands a chance of a restoration, thankfully, but likely won't air anytime soon in a state.

Brother Brat will likely have some sort of Turner copy behind it, if anything. I don't want them to repeat another Holiday for Drumsticks situation with that short.

But that's just my thoughts. S.C. MacPeter's probably more correct, if anything else.

I'm pretty sure this isn't a secret, but I will just say this.

Warner Bros. is going through a FULL preservation project, which requires ALL of the "Looney Tunes" shorts to be in HD. Some will see the day of light, some won't. I'm likely a hundred percent sure that the shorts we are mentioning over here will likely be shown in the public (alongside the ten/eleven shorts I've just mentioned), whenever they succeed in restoring them.

Even if more shorts air unrestored on MeTV, it will ONLY delay the inevitable; which is WB succeeding in this preservation project.

Rest easy knowing this now, guys!
