Hello all,

What a great website! Thanks for letting me join. There's a new book on Ross Bagdasarian Sr. (aka David Seville), creator of Alvin and the Chipmunks, which includes info on The Alvin Show. What were your favorite episodes of the 1961-1962 Alvin Show? That's the program that had inventor Clyde Crashcup and his assistant Leonardo in a cartoon among the Chipmunks segments.

I just wrote a review of the book. Below is the link:

Probably the "Squares" episode with that snooty music fan and the episode with the tired grumpy next door neighbor that has an appreciation to mothers.

By the way did Mark Arnold do his appearance on "Stu's Show" to promote the book yet?

Nick,

Thanks for the comment. Yes, Mark Arnold did make his appearance last month on Stu's Show. He was joined by Scott Shaw!, and it was a very enjoyable show. The program ran over 4 hours. Some Chipmunk artwork was shown as well as some of the records. The Stu's Show program is available in the Archives section of his website.

I had believed I had seen and heard this "program" (or a particular installment of the program itself) and had found it to had been a great challenge to enjoy due to its audio often having had vulgar words and phrases.

Before I read your review, I didn't know that Ross Bagdasarian Sr. died fairly young. (Though I did know that he died in 1972.) He would have been in his early 50's. Thankfully his son and daughter-in-law have been carrying the torch all these years, starting with getting NBC to air The Alvin Show on Saturday mornings in the late 1970's. (I am old enough to have watched those Saturday morning rebroadcasts.)

P.S. I don't watch the new CGI-animated Chipmunks TV series on Nickelodeon. But I've noticed that my cable TV box guide's descriptions for the newest episodes includes in the voice cast Vanessa Bagdasarian and Michael Bagdasarian. I wonder if the next generation is being groomed to carry on the legacy?

Maybe. Although Ross Jr was in talks with a few companies to sell the chipmunks last couple of years ago
