Bill Wray confirmed today
on his Facebook page that artist Chris Reccardi has passed away at the age of 54.
Reccardi is known for his contributions to such animated series as
Ren & Stimpy and
The Powerpuff Girls, as well as co-creating the pilots
Imp, Inc. and
The Modifyers. He was also a talented musician; as a member of Der Screamin' Lederhosen, he performed the familiar
Ren & Stimpy theme music, as well as the unsettling tones heard throughout the episode "Hermit Ren".
On a personal note, he and Wray once answered me during a live Q&A on Reddit two years ago.
He will be missed.
