Does anyone here know the original name and/or studio of this neat little film? I really like the look of this film, a bit UPA-inspired, and the musical score's also pretty neat, too bad I don't know who made it, aside from the fact it was one of many foreign 'toons picked up by Flamingo Telefilms for their "Nutty Squirrels" television package .

I've been slowly identifying a lot of the Flamingo/Fima Noveck/Nutty Squirrels cartoons. No lead on this so far though maybe someone here knows. One thing I've noted is the ones I've identified all seem to lie in the 1958-1961 date range.

So what's the country of origin for most these foreign shorts?

The ones I've identified off the top of my head come from Czechoslovakia, Soviet Russia (easy to recognise from the Disneyesque social realist style!) , at least one from Hungary, plenty of Zagreb, a couple of Geroge Moreno sing-a-longs made in the UK. Probably others as well. I bought quite a few volumes of these from Something Weird Video, I'll dig up my partial list soon.

Say, dbear, you ever find that partial list?
PS: Is it just me, or was "The Cow on the Moon" part of the Flamingo package? I saw an image from it on the cover of one of those Something Weird "cartoon rarities" DVDs.

Hi! Yes I did actually but I’m away from home (and my PC) at the moment. I can upload the list for 4 volumes I purchased off Something Weird as soon as I get back on Thursday. :)

A group effort here (or elsewhere on the internet) would probably fill in the gaps I have if I upload some screenshots onto imgur.

Thanks! By the way, where can one watch "Eraser and Pencil"? That title's picqued my interest.

Thank you very much for all this information! After all these years, have you managed to identify more cartoons of the series? It would be useful for all of us to have a database like this.

Thank you! But the link is broken. Could you inform us about its exact foreign title?

The Magic Mirror was also the title of a book John Culhane was writing--an attempted world history of animation in the 1980s. It was never published, and Culhane passed away not too long ago. I wonder if it would've been ACTUALLY error free.

How sure are you about this? I don't have the Something Weird DVD in order to check it, but I have a German reissue of a Fima Noveck reissue, called "Langohr und das Wildschwein", that seams to translate this title. That film isn't from "La création du monde". It presents some rabbits, a boar and other animals.
