It seems the feedback to Disney sublicensing Gravity Falls was so positive, Shout! commented on a Facebook post that Disney has decided to also sublicense to them ALL the Mickey Mouse shorts for 2 DVD/Blu-ray box sets (Black-and-White and Color)!

They said they're aiming the release for this November!

Oh, dear. You nearly had me there for a moment.

I would have posted something about my Legacy Collection idea finally becoming true for an April Fool's Day thread, but you sort of beat me there. If that idea did become true, what shorts and bonuses would be included?

I actually did consider making this kind of post for today. I guess great minds think alike.

I would love to hear about what you had thought for your version of this post.

Joke or not, it is a shame that Disney hasn't announced a single home video release coinciding with their most famous character's anniversary year. Even the "Memories" collection at the Disney Store seems more focused on putting out the same Mickey plush with a different design on it than releasing items related to his cartoons, which is a concept that has been beaten to death in various other forms. With characters like Bugs Bunny and Tom & Jerry earning more television exposure and even getting high-definition Blu-ray releases, why can't Disney face the facts and actually give us something that isn't a Mickey Mouse-themed retread of SpongeBob SquarePants (the new TV shorts) or Dora the Explorer (Mickey Mouse Clubhouse)?
