Au revoir, Mr. Slate.

Very belatedly we should probably add farewell to the original voice of Dr. Benton Quest (father of one Jonny Quest). Stephenson was indeed his voice on five of the earliest episodes, but then fate stepped in, actually in the form of people noticing that his voice was TOO similar to Mike Road's "Race Bannon". Next thing Stephenson knew was that Don Messick was in front of the mike doing his lines! But just the same he did a lot of TV-cartoon work (and live-action acting) too (a Turtle remembers seeing his face on a fair number of vintage shows, his voice was unmistakable).

He was still working in the 21st century, just like June Foray, Thurl Ravenscroft, Jackson Beck and Lucille Bliss. He was still doing Mr. Slate's voice in commercials for Pebbles cereal. And he was in at least two episodes of What's New, Scooby Doo?, "The Unnatural" and "Uncle Scooby and Antarctica".

According to this video, at some point he took over the role of Doggie Daddy. I wonder why? Of course Doug Young lived into the 21st century as well.

P.S. Notice that this isn't the first time this thread has been necroposted. It was necroposted when it was 3 years old by none other than Sogturtle.
