The HD restored versions from Have a Laugh are airing in 1080p on our state owned channel. This morning they aired Chef Donald, it looks absolutely gorgeous.

This channel also airs a lot of black and white Mickey Mouse cartoons, unlike our version of Disney Channel which runs a very limited amount of shorts.

Uh, just to be clear... when you say "The HD restored versions from Have a Laugh", you mean the full-length shorts that were restored back when Have a Laugh was put together, right? So they are airing the full shorts?

It does look very good. ๐Ÿ™‚ I wonder if Disney has any serious plans to ever launch a Blu-ray series of the old shorts, considering they ARE remastering all of them anyway. But maybe they are saving them for that exclusive streaming service which will compete with Netflix.

I hope so, making a successor to the Walt Disney Treasures would work (and would include more new-to-DVD shorts and movies), and having the classic Disney shorts (along with their animated films and TV shows) on their upcoming streaming service would most definitely bring in the fans besides the families and kids.

ooh looks nice
the screenshots seem to tell disney didnt run it over with grain removal or that nonsensical "let's trace the entire film" stuff theyve done with their movies recently

Are those shorts the original black-and-white or are they colorized? If they are the former, are they restored in high-definition, too?

Either way, we're only one step closer to seeing another big Disney-short-related push!

All colorized except a couple.

Bother. Why can't they differentiate between the original, uncut versions and those garish-looking, edited misfires? I was almost close to thinking they actually were black-and-white until now.

I forgot to expand on this in my last post, but does the presence of these restorations (I mean shorts like the one you posted screenshots of) and the fact we're only one supporter away from getting the petition letter Toonatic wrote about releasing them on Blu-ray sent mean we're going to get something big revolving around them next year? I hope so!
